Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud

If you’re wonderin what all the noise is coming from the barn next door to Pigeon Forge’s Wonderworks, well you’re not alone. In fact, this brand of noise has been going on for over a century as two feuding families – the Hatfields and the McCoys, have tried in earnest to settle their differences. It just doesn’t seem like it’s going to work.

What is going to work is the new Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge. Why not try top settle our differences with a big ole barn dance while chowin down on some good Southern cookin. Will it be peaceful? Who knows, but at least you’ll get to eat and enjoy some great bluegrass tunes. I guess someone decided it’d be smart to invite both the Hatfields AND the McCoys to the party! These two families mix about about as well as broccoli and chocolate pudding. Needless to say, the new sheriff is going to have his hands full with this group.

Oh, and remember we said a little something about the food, well that’s Granny’s secret plan. Hopefully that will soothe the savage beasts. We’re talking about finger-licking country cookin’ the likes of fried chicken, down-home pulled pork bbq, mashed taters, corn on the cob, slaw and desert if you’re good. Just try to resist some of Granny’s cooking. Granny said it’s just her way of calming the natives. These families, as well as anyone else in attendance, will be too full to do anything but sit back and enjoy the toe tappin’ music we got lined up.

One more thing, our morning show, The Country Jamboree Breakfast Show featurning the Blackwoods, is not to be missed either. Start your morning off with some good country cookin’ including fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, farm fresh sausage, crispy hash browns and buttermilk biscuits. All while listening to a batch of hit country songs from the past and present.

Black Bear JamboreeJoin these amazing creatures for a fabulous Country feast and fantastic variety show as you watch the Black Bear Jamboree‘s ultra-talented cast of actors, singers, dancers and musicians entertain the bears. If you listen closely, you can hear their favorite music from High-flying Country to Bluegrass, as well as Gospel, 50’s and Broadway tunes all while enjoying a fabulous country feast in Pigeon Forge, TN.

What The Insider Says
I drove by the Black Bear Jamboree in Pigeon Forge for three years until I finally decided to go to this Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge one evening. I had this vision of Chuck E. Cheese and entertainment suited for children and was never interested in going. Fortunately I was very wrong as this Pigeon Forge Dinner Show ended up being one of my favorites! What I like about this dinner show is that it provides an “experience” more than anything. As you enter the building, you hear bluegrass music along with birds chirping and even a flowing waterfall inside. Before you enter the actual theater, they take your picture in front of a “green screen” and then place you into a mountain scene that fits the season. They take your picture for free, so why not do it? It may end up being your favorite picture of you and your family in Pigeon Forge!

As you enter the Black Bear Jamboree Theater, you’re seated at your reserved table by a friendly host or hostess. At this point, you can stay parked in your seat for the entire dinner show (2 hours) as the staff takes care of everything! Unless of course you need to go to the bathroom…then you’re on your own. Your waiter or waitress immediately takes your drink order and brings hot rolls…followed by an incredible vegetable soup…followed by a plate full of ribs, chicken, green beans, potatoes, and corn on the cob…and finally followed by a chocolate dessert. If you don’t eat meat (gasp) you can request their vegetarian plate. You’re missing out though! The food is amazing!

As you eat your meal, the Black Bear Jamboree Band plays some tunes you’re likely to know. They are a talented group that gets the evening started off on the right foot. Just about the time you finish dinner, the band wraps up and you’re given a 15 minute intermission to do whatever you do when you finish eating a huge, tasty meal. Once intermission is over, the show begins!

As I said, I was expecting a show geared towards children, but there is literally something for everyone in this show. There are the bears for kids, a good-looking & talented cast, a story line, and music from the 50’s, broadway, country, gospel, and more. I don’t want to give everything away, but this show would please the entire family from grandchildren to grandparents. The food is excellent and the show is icing on the cake as it is my favorite among Pigeon Forge Dinner Shows. Do not miss this one! Also, they tend to give discounts to their other shows such as The Comedy Barn when you purchase tickets, so be sure to ask if they have any specials or coupons!

If you’re going to see any Dinner Shows in Pigeon Forge then make this one of them! The Blackbear Jamboree Dinner Show is located right beside WonderWorks.

The Hatfields and McCoys Christmas Disaster Show

Sometimes the holidays can bring out best in families, though if you’re part of the Hatfield or McCoy clan, Christmas takes a backseat to family hijinks. You’ll see it all at the Hatfields and McCoys Christmas Dinner Show titled, “Christmas Disaster Show.” Both families don’t even stop their feud for Christmas. In all, it’s the perfect holiday show packed with new material and so much fun. Your entire family will love it.

The Hatfields and McCoys Christmas Disaster Show tells the tale of both families as they decide to suspend their feuding ways in order to celebrate the Christmas holiday. This despite the kidnapping of Pa Hatfield’s daughter by a McCoy boy and subsequent elopement. While the Hatfields will claim she was kidnapped, she apparently ran out to the McCoy pickup truck, jumped in and screamed “I’m free! I’m free! My family is crazy and I ain’t never comin’ back.”

Still, they’re willing let things lie for awhile to celebrate the Christmas season. Maybe a little competition won’t hurt – participating in a Christmas decorating contest in hopes of winning a big cash prize from the mayor. What they don’t know is that the mayor has set the contest up to benefit himself and the families risk losing their farms. Sprinkle in a few liberties taken from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and the mayor just might see the error of his ways thanks to a few old friends that come back to pay him a visit.

But what about the kidnapped Hatfield daughter and her McCoy lover? You’ll see them again, but might be surprised by the circumstances surrounding the couple and their return. Meanwhile, sing along to the familiar music and Christmas carols as both families celebrate the true meaning of the season. You’ll definitely want to witness the singing of “Oh, Holy Night.”

Oh, and let us not forget Maw McCoy’s delicious Christmas dinner – a 4 course meal of fried chicken, country pulled pork shoulder barbecue, smashed taters, creamy cole slaw, pinto beans, cornbread, creamy vegetable soup and chocolate pudding. It’s tempting to just head on over there right now.

Before long the Hatfield & McCoy’s Christmas Dinner Show will be a holiday favorite in the Smoky Mountains and a must-see for visitors coming to the area.

Lumberjack Feud

The Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge, TN is the Smoky Mountain’s newest entertainment attraction. A live dinner show, the Lumberjack Feud is one of the first non-musical shows in Pigeon Forge in quite some time.

The Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge, TN is the Smoky Mountain’s newest entertainment attraction. A live dinner show, the Lumberjack Feud is one of the first non-musical shows in Pigeon Forge in quite some time. The Lumberjack Feud is located right off the parkway between traffic lights 3 and 4 in a brand new state-of-the-art theater.

The theater itself is split between seats made for dinner and the show and seats that are specifically just for people coming to the show. One there your picture is snapped with your entire party and then you are escorted to your seats. The Lumberjack Feud cast actually helps seat the audience. There is also a concession stand for snacks if you choose just to watch the show.

Danny Black, the ‘world famous lumberjack of the Smokies’, is everyone’s tour guide tonight. Danny really moves the action along while hosting and makes sure everyone keeps up with the goings-on during the show. Black is also extraordinarily witty, a talented juggler and physical comedian to boot. Crowd interaction starts immediately as well as Black wastes no time getting everyone involved, with various people in the crowd being brought to the stage and incorporated in to the show.

You’re introduced to two Smoky Mountain logging families. The show starts off around the inception of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This is a time when logging in the Great Smoky Mountains is beginning to dwindle and the two families are coming to that realization. They can see that they are not going to be logging in the Smokies much longer so a competition is born to decide which family has the best lumberjacks and lumberjills in all the region.

The competition portion is just a treat if you’ve never been to a lumberjack tournament. These are professional lumberjacks that compete in traditional lumberjack sports including: the standing chop, log rolling, cross-cut saw pull, among others. The hot saw is a crowd favorite, and a loud one at that. The saws are ripped, engines warmed up and then they make two of the fastest cuts you will ever see made outside a true lumber yard. Of course, a dinner show put together with lumberjack games isn’t exactly commonplace anyways. Pets even get in on the action with a series of dog games including a long jump into the pool that takes center stage.

The pool’s main attraction is the log rolling competition that ends the evening pitting family against family and determines the winner of the night’s show. You’ll cheer on your family (the audience is divided in two halves to cheer on the different families) as two of the lumberjacks take to the log and began to roll against one another. It’s a feet-flying, water-splashing good time as you wait for someone, anyone, to get put into the drink. It’s a best of three tries competition and the highlight of the show.

Next time you’re down this way, check out the Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It’s spanking new, and completely different from any dinner show you’ve ever seen. It’s a top-notch facility; there’s a great cast and it’s something completely different from the traditional variety show that you’re used to hearing about in Pigeon Forge.
