Grand resort & hotel pigeon forge

I have reservations at the Grand resort hotel and covention center...have been reading some reviews posted about the hotel and it sounds awful...but its about the only place we can afford....has anyone stayed there and is it really bad? Let me know if you can. Thanks

We stayed at the Grand Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge TN June 23-June 27, 2008. I had read many bad reviews about the hotel and was really scared to see it and stay there. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice young woman at the front desk and given a room key. We were in a ground floor, pool side room(at my request). We were concerned that all that we had read would be true, but to our wonderful surprise the room was really nice and clean and though it was on the small side, we really enjoyed our stay!! The room had a refrigerator,tv, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, coffee maker, and really nice soaps, lotions and shampoos. Our only complaint was with the shower. It was really hard to adjust the water temperture, but we made it fine. We were able to park just on the other side of the building from our room and it was very convenient. I think that if you just want a clean, nice and VERY reasonable place to hang your hat while in the Smokys, this is the place to do it! Our fourteen year old son LOVED the river behind the hotel and the pool and indoor jacuzzi!! The staff was nice and we got one free breakfast that was very good. Just had to pay for our drinks, which was only five dollars, for four people who dranked a lot!! All in all I would rate this hotel a three and a half on a scale of 1 to 5. Stay there and if you have a good experience please post it on the web. I never read any good posts, just bad ones. These people deserve to hear the good stuff also!
