How do I enter?
Inside Pigeon Forge has launched a brand new forum for users to discuss anything about Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg or Sevierville while getting feedback from "insiders" who live & work in the area. We're so excited about the opportunity to provide visitors an "inside look" into our cities and we want to show our enthusiasm by giving away a vacation package to someone who shares the same enthusiasm about the town we love.
Step 1:
Register in the new Insider forums by clicking the link below
(if you're already registered, skip to Step 2)

You can post as many tips as you want and each tip will count as an entry. The main requirement is that your tip is a reply to this thread rather than posted somewhere else in the forum. Only replies here will be counted as entries. We are planning our first trip ever to Pigeon Forge (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com) so my tip is not from first hand experience. However, my suggestion is to check out all the websites such as Git2Know, Trip Advisor, My Pigeon Forge, etc. All the sites that have recommendations and advice from the people who either live there or have visited. The best help comes from the kind people on the different forums.

We have been visiting the Pigeon Forge area for years. The first thing I like to do when we arrive is go to the Welcome Center. You can get information on all the attractions and coupons for discounts. For my family every penny counts! We choose which attractions we will go to and which restaurants we will eat at by discounts offered. It really helps.

Great tip, Cheryl. I'd like to point out that there are two official welcome centers in Pigeon Forge, but the one that the city wants visitors to use is on the north end of town right in front of the Miracle Theater (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/the-miracle-theater/) (Beside Country Legends Grill, Wonderworks (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/family-attractions/wonderworks/), and Black Bear Jamboree (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/black-bear-jamboree-dinner-and-show/)). This is the nicest welcome center with a ton of info, coupons, tips, and friendly people wanting to help.

Slip into some good walking shoes and comfortable clothes and always bring a light sweater, for evenings in Pigeon Forge are cool.
We like to visit the welcome center on the North end of town for all sorts of info. and they are super friendly and helpful. From there we choose where we will eat and if we will visit any shows.
Usually we find a room at mypigeonforge.com we like to stay in different places each time because they are all so nice, we want to try them all.
We like to go to the area parks for picnics. Once we had a picnic at Patriot Park and to our surprise they were having a celebration honoring our Vets we got to see the moving Mini Wall, it was awesome.
Our favorite place to eat is at the Golden Corral we have 2 children so there is something for everyone and it is resonable. We always get great service and leave feeling like we are apart of the town. Late at night after some swimming in the motel pool we go to Krispy Kreme and wait for the HOT sign this is our daughters favorite.
Dollywood (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/family-attractions/tips-for-visiting-dollywood/) is a must see but if you plan to get wet wear suitable shoes for water and then lots of walking.
There is so much to do in Pigeon Forge it really is best to spend some time on the web researching the many things to see and do and where to stay. You at least have an idea when you get there then you can scan the coupons at the welcome center to see what works for you.

We really enjoy going to the Pigeon Forge area We were married there 14 years ago and have been going up at least once a year ever since. One good tip for those who are going on over the weekend is to try not to travel on Friday afternoon/evening. If you do expect long traffic delays. If you are going there via I-40 E then get off the exit near Knoxville and go through Maryville and Townsend as this will save you a lot of grief and aggravation if travelling there for the weekend.
There are some other short cuts that you can find to bypass the traffic there. Check out the maps that they give you at the WElcome Center or available at most of the stores there. This will save you a lot of time and gas when driving around if you know how to get around behind the main drag

We always go to Dollywood first thing. We have season passes, but if you don't, the best bet is to go after 3:00pm. The next day is free! You can spend the first evening looking around, maybe take in a show or two, and plan your next day's attack. It's a great deal.
After Dollywood, we spend a day a Splash Country (assuming it's still summertime). It's a super water park, and great way to cool off.
My wife love the outlet malls, and could LITERALLY shop till she dropped in Pigeon Forge.
The kids love the miniature golf and go-carts.
And we all love the shows! Dixie Stampede, Comedy Barn (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/family-attractions/comedy-barn-theater/), Blackbear Jamboree (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/black-bear-jamboree-dinner-and-show/), Country Tonight, The Black Brothers....it's all super!
We are coming back in a few weeks for 9 days and we can hardly wait!

I've been going to Pigeon Forge for so many years, and it amazes me how much its grown just in the last 5 years! Definately go check out the new Magic Beyond Belief Theatre...that show will keep you SPELLBOUND! It's 2 action-packed hours of magic and fun! And, they also have a beautiful TIGER! You have to see it to believe it!
If you get hungry, and everyone wants something different, try Duff's Smorgasboard. All types of food for one low price, and it is absolutely delicious! ( and yes..desserts are included!)
There are many hotels and motels to choose from...some of my favorites? The Grand Hotel and Conference Center, Smoky Shadows, and Maples...
By all means, stay as many nights as you can in Pigeon Forge..there are so many things to do and see, you won't get bored. Try going to Lazer Port, and playing a little Lazer Tag...that place is awesome! It's fun for all ages.
And for shopping, don't miss checking out Old Time Pottery. They have such unique things!

Pigeon Forge is one of our families favorite places to go. Take advantage of nature. Our children love walking through the different trails and getting an ice cream cone at Cades Cove. Plan to stay at least a week. You will never see it all in a week, but you will fill each day with treasured memories.

Although we have been to Pigeon Forge for the past four years, we always find new things to do each trip. On our trip last year we shopped and had lunch at the Old Mill. My family and I loved browsing the shops that held everything from small gifts to beautiful pottery. I especially liked sitting on the front porch and listening to the music provided by some local musicians. The food at the Old Mill was great. You have to try their corn chowder that was absolutley delicious. I found that they sold the mix at the front desk. What a great way to take home a taste of area. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did.

It took me about 18 years to get husband to come to Pigeon Forge. Now he thinks we need to come at least once a year. I'm glad because I love it. My tip is for traveling. The best way in from I 40E is to exit at Lenoir City and follow the signs. We use 321. Then we turn left onto what will become Wears Valley Road. The traffic is not a problem and the scenery is wonderful. The worst part is the last 15 miles into Pigeon Forge. It is curvey and a little narrow, but it's definitely worth missing the Knoxville traffic.

We went to Huck Finn's (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/restaurants/country/huck-finns-catfish-chicken-and-steaks/) this summer for the first time. It's the best. I can eat my weight in fish and I wasn't disappointed. They kept my plate full. My wife loves fried chicken and they made sure that she was stuffed. The price is very reasonable. In fact, they probably lost money when they fed me. We also enjoyed the live music. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
We went on one of those "time share" things. I won't recommend those unless you are a very calm person and don't mind high pressure sales pitches that take twice the time that they tell you it will take. The one positive thing that came out of that for my family was the free breakfast at Bennett's BBQ. We tried it because of those tickets and we've never stopped coming back. It's the only place we eat breakfast every time we're in Pigeon Forge. The food is great; the service is very good, especially Danni; and the price is the BEST! If you leave hungry, it's your own fault!!!!

Hi, my family has be going to Pigeon Forge (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com) for years now and we have a great time everytime we go, Make sure you call ahead and book dixiestampede it's a dinner and show but sometimes its hard to get in, so book ahead... (865-453-4400) it's great for kids and adults, it last about 2 hours and the food is really great. Also Cades cove is great, 11 miles and they have very old cabins you can tour and see black bears, turkeys, eagles, deer's and lots of other wild life from your car. We were there about 2 years ago and recorded a baby black bear crossing the road and was about 5 feet from the bear. Dollywood (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/family-attractions/tips-for-visiting-dollywood/) is really fun we go there everytime we go to Pigeon Forge. Also check out the Apple Barn that is a really nice place it was a apple orchard years ago, they sell some really good apple pancake mix and alot of other things to much to list you wont be disappointed. Another really fun thing is the Comedy Barn (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/family-attractions/comedy-barn-theater/) A GREAT 2 hours of Comedy & laughter and its for the whole family so you dont have to worry about the kids (under 11 its free) well worth the money going there, book ahead to get good seats (865-428-5222). Dont get talked into the timeshares, hours away from your time there on vacation they say only 45 mins- but more like 3-4 hours!!! Gatlinburg is a nice town, just a few minutes down the road from Pigeon Forge lots to see & do there as well. We are going again on Aug 3rd this will be our 10th time there. Have a Great time there, if you have any questions feel free to email me, Pigeon Forge is my favorite pastime.

My best tip for visiting pigeon forge is to go at christmas there is nothing like christmas in the smokies!!!!!! We loved the black bear jamboree (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/black-bear-jamboree-dinner-and-show/).... dollywood was a little chilly that time of year but we still loved it...... We drove up to gatlinburg and just walking down the streets hearing the music and it was snowing a little just made our family trip amazing.....And to top it off cades cove with the deer playing in the fields and icicles hanging from the sides of the mountains was breathtaking...... So take it from me I love it there in the summer cause we whitewater raft but christmas time is to die for.....

We also go to Pigeon Forge (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com) every year. We usually go in October, not only for the beautiful fall leaves, but for Gospel Fest at Dollywood (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/family-attractions/tips-for-visiting-dollywood/). The town of Pigeon Forge is decorated at every imagineable place with fall flowers, pumpkins, gords, etc. Our favorite musical show is "Come Celebrate America", where young college students perform songs from every state. If you're at all patriotic, this is a must see. We are looking forward to seeing "The Mircale (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/the-miracle-theater/)" this year. My tip for Pigeon Forge is to go often so you can see it all!!!

We have alway's loved Pigeon Forge, we can find what ever to do there, we are alway's finding something new each time we go. It's like a new adventure and with living in the Asheville area we don't have to travel far from home so that cut's down on travel time and gives us more time to do other things and visit new shops. So for 21 years now my husband and I always take a anniversary trip to Pigeon Forge.

The Dixie Stampede (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/dinner-shows/dixie-stampede-dinner-and-show/) is one the best shows to see in Pigeon Forge. My 3-year old ate and watched the entire show, which is not an easy task for a 3-year old.

I have been coming to Pigeon Forge for years and I love it. My suggestion is do what I am doing in September, I am moving just outside of Pigeon Forge to Seymour Tn so that I can enjoy all that Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains have to offer and thats a lot. The fun is non stop and no matter what you choose to do there you will never regret your trip. The people of Pigeon Forge and Tennessee are the nicest you will ever meet. And don't forget to say hi to "Dolly"

Great place to spend a few days. We use it as a getaway at least 2 times a year. Mountain cabins are a great place to have a group together for some good fellowship and eating. Great area to shop and see the shows. Don't forget to go to Dollywood. The kids will love it.

If you are traveling to Pigeon Forge in a camper then I have a tip for you! We stayed at Creekside RV Park last year and we really liked it. Their website is http://www.creeksidervpark.com/.
The sites are kind of tight and may not be easy to get into. Other than that we liked the park. There are some sites on Walden Creek which runs behind the campground. There is a small playset for the children and also a basketball goal. There is a grassy area next to the creek where you can walk.
The trolley also picks up in this campground -- directly from your site. You will have to transfer to another trolley at the main station but at least it gets you there.
This campground is not on the main strip so it is much quieter. Also, not far from the campground (about 18 miles) are some beautiful caverns that we visited. You use the same road that the campground is on to get there, IIRC. Here is the website: http://www.tuckaleecheecaverns.com/ .

I don't like to miss church when we are traveling; and my husband doesn't want to attend churches we don't know anything about. I try to find a way to substitute our worship time. Our first was visiting the Christus Gardens, and awesome display of the Bible and then when walking into the Gardens and having God's eyes on you no matter where you were is really neat. We had been there three times and while planning our last trip to Dollywood I read there would be church at 11:00. So we scheduled our day at Dollywood for Sunday. We went straight to the Church area and realized we had a lot of time to kill. We looked around at the shopes in the area and then took a seat in the church. As folks gathered in, we chatted, soon the preacher came in and invited those that had always wanted to sing in the choir to take a seat in the choir loft. Our song books had been donated by a church in Mooresville, IN and we are from Indianapolis, not to far away from them. The service lasted about 30 minutes and we were out. We are so glad that Dolly offered church at her Theme Park. Our kids are all grown now, but had they been with us; we would have made them all attend church before all their fun stuff. We had a great day at Dollywood. Another event you could go see (we did) is It's A Miracle - an awesomely done musical and then we went to see Fixin' To Rain, not what we were expecting, but there is a little Biblical reference, you just have to remember the setting is not in biblical times, but in the hills of Tennessee.

Just ask my Girl Scouts... Pigeon Forge is the place to go!!! So we take all our troops there every year in November. There is so much to do... no matter how many times you go back, you can always do something different.
PLACES TO STAY: There are lots of places to stay at great prices for the family, but for us big groups, we like to stay in the chalets. We stay at several chalets that are together and each troop has their own. That way we can cook some meals in and eat some meals out. They also enjoy the pool table, hot tub, and other things in the chalets.
THINGS TO DO:
1. HIKING: There are unlimited things to do. First, as Girl Scouts, we love the hiking trails. There are so many different trails, with various difficulty levels. I recommend you go by the park Visitors Center and pick up a book that tells about all the trails so you can pick out the best one for you.
2. ICE SKATING: Ober Gatlinburg has a huge indoor ice skating rink and more. Check this out.
3. SHOWS: In Pigeon Forge that are so many shows and you need to see them all! Every year we go to two shows. Make sure you book ahead, as at certain times they get booked up fast. You can also get discount coupons to most shows either on the internet or from the Pigeon Forge Chamber of Commerce. Here are some shows that we have been to and really enjoyed: Dixie Stampede (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/dinner-shows/dixie-stampede-dinner-and-show/) (great meal and great show), Black Bear Jamboree (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/black-bear-jamboree-dinner-and-show/), Country Tonite (the girls fell in love with Adam Calvert... youth vocalist), Comedy Barn (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/family-attractions/comedy-barn-theater/), The Miracle Theatre (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/the-miracle-theater/), Fixin' 2 Rain, The Great China Acrobats, Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, and many more. Each year we see one or two new shows, and this year we want to go see Magic Beyond Belief. If you take a group, call them ahead and you can get a special group discount rate.
4. SHOPS: Of course, there arell kinds of places for shopping. My Girl Scouts love to go to the Christmas Place every year.
5. HORSEBACK RIDING: There are different areas you can go horseback riding. Even with no experience, you will have a great time. We went to Lil' Ponderosa. Directions: At traffic lite #10, turn onto Conner Heights Road, at 1/2 mile this road becomes Mill Creek Road, go straight 1.7 miles onto Little Creek Road to Lil' Ponderosa.
6. RIDES: In Pigeon Forge there are all kinds of places with rides and things to do. We took the Girl Scouts to ride Go Carts and they loved this! Also go to Dollywood and have a day of fun! We also like to play minature golf and laser tag.
7. FOOD: There is a selection of any type of food you want to eat in Pigeon Forge. One of our favorite places is the Great American Steak Buffet. Of course, everyone loves Krispy Kreme Donuts!!!!
Start planning your trip now and don't miss the fun of Pigeon Forge for the whole family!!!! See ya there!

We make coming to Gatlinburg (http://www.insidegatlinburg.com)/Pigeon Forge a yearly getaway for the family. It has become a Thanksgiving tradition (not to mention we slip away a few other times during the year). My whole family (parents, children, spouses, sister's family) plan the entire year---what games we'll play, what shows we'll see---where we'll stay. Some of our favorite places to stay are Willowbrook, Whispering Pines and Maples. I also suggest renting a cabin if you want to get away from it all. We usually try to stay somewhere where they have a continental breakfast so we are not rushed in the morning.
We love to try different places and haven't eaten anywhere that wasn't the best. All waiters/waitresses are always super nice and helpful.
We love dinner shows--Dixie Stampede, BlackBear Jamboree, Fiddler's Feast-- great entertainment and meals.
We plan several activities together and seperately--that's the good thing about the area there is plenty to do for everyone!!! Shopping, go cart riding bumper boats, movies Dollywood. It's great and convenient.
Last year my mother's mother passed away the day after thanksgiving and we cut our vacation short. I'm praying that this year we can do something extra special that will keep Mom's mind occupied and not thinking so much of last year.
I wish you all wonderful trips!! I know you will enjoy everything you do, everywhere you eat and whatever you attempt while you are there.
Safe travels!!!

We visited Pigeon Forge for the first time in May of '07. It was our anniversary week and decided to do something different this year. We spent 5 days in Pigeon Forge and had the best anniversary ever! Next time we hope to stay longer and do more exploring. When we first got there, we walked up and down the streets, checking everything out. My first very important tip would be to wear very comfortable well broken in shoes. When you get tired of walking, you can always take the trolley. We really enjoyed the scenery and the rides on the trolley. You can pick it up almost anywhere on the main streets. The drivers are very nice and answered all our questions. When we decided to go to Pigeon Forge, I spent alot of time at mypigeonforge.com. I also ordered the travel magazine through the website and leafed through the magazine over and over trying to decide what to do and see. Dollywood was really fun. We took advantage of going in after 3:00and returning the next day for free. We managed to see all the shows Dollywood had to offer and they were all really good. We went to Gatlinburg 1 day and visited the Ripleys Aquarium. It was really educational and fun. We ate at all different restaurants and every one of them was good, but our favorite was Applewood Restaurant. The service, food, quantity, and furnishings were wonderful. The price was too! We plan on making this an every year trip for our anniversary celebration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best thing about the area is the safe feeling you have while visiting with your children. You feel that you are in an environment where there are no threats or dangers. In todays world it is great to visit an area dedicated to family fun.

If this is your first trip to Pigeon Forge, don't let it over-whelm you! Just stop at the Visitor's Center at the north end (across from the Black Bear Jamboree and they can fix you right up! They are so friendly and have all kinds of suggestions and great discount coupons to help you get through your toughest decisions for a great fun-packed holiday, whether it will be an over-night stay or a full week's stay. I can't help but to suggest taking in the Black Bear Jamboree. I've been there several times myself and it would not be a trip to Pigeon Forge for our family if we didn't get to go there! The show and the food is awesome. You get the best of both worlds at the same time!
So, start enjoying yourselves and don't panic...there's help on every corner in Pigeon Forge! :)

Hello Everyone!! There are so many things to say, hard to decide where to start!! Pigeon Forge is a place for everyone to enjoy wheater you are 5, 20, 40, or even 100. There's something for everyone.. I main attraction is Dollywood and splash country. Also, all the shows..Dixie stampede, Blackbear Jamboree, Comedy Barn, the new Hoot and Holler. Or if you want to keep it simple..there are a large area of shopping outlets the stores include Tommy, Old Navy, Nike just about anything you are looking for. but keep in mind dearing the seasons there are unbeatable sales in the outlets, that we love.
Also I think one of the major things about Pigeon Forge is it is a mountain getaway that is one of the best a family could ever exeperience. There are cabins everywhere..and a cabin can never ever compare to a motel room. Our family loves the fact we have our own private HOT TUB! If you are someone that has never visited 1st thing visit the Welcome Center. They have discounts, coupons, and brochures for the area. Our family is planning to travel in about 2 weeks and we cant wait!!

We love Pigeon Forge and go as often as possible. We only live 3 hours away so it is a quick easy get-away. We drive up 441 from Georgia so we come across the moutain and over the years, I have learned to call the Park Service before hand to make sure the road is open. I also make sure to check the weather. Our weather is generally similiar, but the forethought to check the web prevents any surprises.
We love to eat at Calhoun's and most of the other places there. If we are planning a romantic get-away we try to plan on the The Peddlar in Gatlingburg (http://www.insidegatlinburg.com/places-to-eat/steak-houses/the-peddler/).
We have visited most of the Fee Hedrick Productions. Our daughter loves all the shows. The last trip 3 weeks ago we saw The Miracle for the first time and it was GREAT!! I can't wait to see the magic show production.

I go to Pigeon Forge at least twice a year. I reccomend going to nascar speedpark. An all day pitpass wristband is the best way to go. There are rides there for the whole family and it is not as crowded as Dollywood. They have the best go carts there.

You can't go to Pigeon Forge without visiting Dollywood. So much fun for ALL ages. We have had season passes for the past three years now and plan to continue to do so in the future. In fact, next year we will add SPLASH COUNTRY too. I think the best place to eat is the Dixie Stampede. Also cant miss Texas Roadhouse or Gatlinburg's Pancake Pantry. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will love the food and the fun it provides. Every time you go you see something new.

We absolutely love Pigeon Forge. We have been going there for over 30 years. We went there on our honeymoon 32 years ago and fell in love with Gatlinburg (http://www.insidegatlinburg.com) and the surrounding area. We have watched Pigeon Forge grow to the huge tourist attraction it is today. My family has enjoyed every minute.
We love to picnic at the parks for a slow moment, especially in the fall when the trees are so gorgeous. The peace and quiet is like a small slice of heaven. For some reason, "family time" there, in that beautiful place, takes on a new meaning. Everything seems to slow down, smiles come easier, and life takes a slower pace.
Not to say we do not enjoy the faster moving side of Pigeon Forge. We always stay at the motels or fantastic cabins in the area. We have never had a bad experience. We have seen all the shows, ranging from the dinner shows/breakfast shows to the religious themed shows the kids loved so much.
And, of course, we have season passes for all four of us, to Dollywood. These have been renewed for the last seven years. We love the shows and the kids love the everchanging, vast assortment of amusement rides.
So, you can see, we spend every moment we can there and we recommend it to any family who just wants to enoy precious, special, quiet moments; as well as, loud, happy, joyous family time. Have a wonderful time!
Have been to Pigeon Forge 2 years ago. Do not know my way around a lot but is a great place to vacation. I took my wife and mama2 and we had a great time.

We have been to Pigeon Forge twice in the past couple of years, and our best tip is to make the drive through Gaitlinburg during non-peak hours. Also, there are several timeshares in Pigeon Forge that makes visiting very affordable if budget is a concern!

Pigeon Forge is AMAZING! I'm the family "vacation researcher" and have decided that this time, we're headed YOUR way! At first we wanted to go to surfing school in Mexico, but then we looked at our three young daughters and realized....they won't be little forever. Pigeon Forge looks like an excellent place to make some fantastic family-style memories with all the "jamborees, fiddle-playin', and down-home country food!"...not to mention the themed attractions! We're excited and I even stayed up until 3 a.m. this morning just looking at all the great cabin choices in the area....whew! All of this and little did we realize....we'll be visiting in the FALL...how beautiful it will be. So, keep the light on for us. We'll see you soon, Pigeon Forge!

I really love coming to Pigeon Forge especially the first week of November. Usually the weather is nice (not too cold or too hot) so you can enjoy EVERYTHING. My favorite thing to do is visit the Old Mill corner of town. I love to shop and visiting them all from the pottery making - candy store - kitchen store (it's great for snacks) (and you can purchase them on-line all year long). Cross the street and enjoy Patriot Park and all the small shops. Don't miss the Kitchen Kupboard - let it take you back in time as you shop (and find) and great bargain. Wonderful store and people. By now you've worked up a good appetite so enjoy eating lunch at the Old Mill Restaurant. It's simply delicious: everything from the corn fritters, potatoe soup, fried porkchops - fruit plate - or whatever you are hungry for. Everything is delicious. And don't forget the pecan pie! Of course you will need a "take out" box because you always get more than enough to eat (and you can enjoy this for supper). While you are waddling to your car stop and listen (hopefully) to the group singing on the front porch of the "Old Mill Country Store". (oh my, I get excited just writing about it). Now on your way to the car, walk behind the restaurant and feed the ducks and let the kids chase the pigeons. Makes for some good photos to go in your albums back home. Okay enough for now - Have a wonderful time ---- God Bless
On each visit we always find something new and this is why we keep returning
year after year. We alternate by the seasons, since there is so much diversity.
Everyone should visit in the winter, lighting and decorations are unique and
you can combine all this with getting your Christmas shopping done in a very
festive surrounding. The Christmas Palace is a must any time. Eating at the
Apple Barn and Alamo Steakhouse are always on our list. Governors Palace
& Miracle Theatre (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/the-miracle-theater/) productions are broadway quality. A drive over the mountain and thru Maggie Valley is breathtaking. A picnic lunch in Cades Cove
provides a quiet and most enjoyable time. We have enjoyed family get-to-gathers as well as 'just the 2 of us' get-aways. We choose our lodging
based upon our list of things to do, cabins, small out of the way places
and right downtown in the heart of things. One evening during our stay
we try to take in the streets of Gatlinburg, getting new ideas from local
folks as well as visitors like ourselves. In the fall we have been able to
drive to the top of the mountain, build a snowman and the very next day
have a picnic lunch in Cades Cove. That's the Great Smoky Mountains!
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is our absolute favorite place to vacation. We have vacationed in Pigeon Forge for the last 33 years! We never tire of the beautiful scenic mountains and the secure feeling that you are truly in God's Country! Our children still to this day love to see the shows, the thrill of Dollywood. The Country Inn and Suites is probably one of our favorite places to stay! There is something for every member of our family to enjoy from golf to shopping, thrill rides and shows to a peaceful mountain stream to enjoy!
Our Church has chosen this place to have our annual Ladies Retreat for the past several years. We love to stay at the Hemlock Hills Cabins! They are absolutely luxurious and comfortable at the same time!
The restaurants are wonderful and they are priced for families to enjoy eating out in a healthy manner that will not break the budget!
Everyone in Pigeon Forge is so friendly, helpful, and caring to all of us visitors! I highly recommend this peaceful environment to everyone.

Huck Finns is a good choice. The food there is good and the atmosphere is enjoyable. Just try to beat the dinner crowd or you may have to wait a while. Another tip is to look for coupons for this and anything else you may choose to do.

this is truly a resting and refreshing for our family as we try to get time off 2 or 3 times a years just to visit Gods county. We love the wonderful "Ole" style way of bring back much of the past to oue modern day.
The friendly confines of so much in so little of an area. Great dinning, shopping, and cabins so close to all the activities for young and mature persons. Looking forward to our next visit, God bless and keep a light on, We'll be there soon..

When visiting Pigeon Forge and traveling via the RV lifestyle one of the best campgrounds to visit is the RiversEdge Campground . It close enogh to everything and far enough out that you do not feel crowded and as anyone knows that has an RV you cannot go wrong in a crwod of other campers.
When visiting a must see is the Miracle Theater (http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/entertainment/theaters/the-miracle-theater/) and if you visit more than once a year the best buy is the season pass due to the fact that you get two shows in one and have more than your money's worth in two visits. The Miracle is such an awesome show that tells from creation to the rising up of Christ that you see something you messed each time you go and the Triumphant Qaurtet is terrific.

Go four times a year, once for each season. On your first trip, go through all the Pigeon Forge InterNet resources. www.mypigeonforge.com is my favorite, but there are many. Pick up the free magazines and brochures and come home and plan your next trip with these and the InterNet. Our family has been coming regularly since 1986. We also enjoy just coming to PF with NO plans, just see what develops. There's so much to see an do that you'll never get bored.

I love to go shopping at the outlets. I buy birthday gifts, Christmas gifts and all kind of things for the grandchildren. Motherhood Maternity helped my daughter so much while she was shopping for maternity clothes.
I work with a group of adults with mental retardation and we always try to travel almost 3 hours to a show each Christmas. Everyone has been great with helping us plan the trips. It is the highlight of their year. They are already discussing where they want to go this year.

Park and ride the Trolley! It is inexpensive and fun! Go in the off season if possible....like in May and September as we do. The traffic is less busy and the lines at Dollywood (our favorite park) are not too long. Dollywood is very family friendly and wholesome for kids. Also, in May and September, the temperature is not too hot, nor too cold. November and early December are also great with all the beautiful lights everywhere!
While there, be sure and visit Cade's Cove and Roaring Fork Falls in the Great Smoky Mtns National Park. The scenery and wildlife are wonderful and amazing.

When taking a large group - rent a cabin instead of getting several motel rooms. I am a youth leader at my church, and at least once a year we take our youth (teenagers) to a religous convention in Gatlinburg, but we stay in Pigeon Forge. We have found that it is a much better idea to rent one cabin for 20 people rather than rent 5 motel rooms (cheaper too). The veiw from the cabins is awesome, and people are not one on top of the other. There are alot of little spots were you can walk to and reflect on the world around you. Instead of going out for all our meals we have a big kitchen, and a grill, instead of speanding alot of time wondering around trying to entertain everyone, we get a cabin with a game room, hot tub, and tv/vcr/dvd players. This allows the youth to have their own space, but we don't have to worry as much about where they are at. We rent the cabin from Hidden Mountain Resorts, we have stayed in two different ones and both were very nice, and the staff was wonderful. We do eat out some what, the resturant that has done us the best is Golden Corral on the parkway, we called ahead and made reservations, when we got there we did not have to wait in lines, they had a room set up for us, and the staff was fantastic! The last day of our trip we always stop at the Track, this is a great place for teenagers to go, they have thier choice of putt-putt, go-charts and an arcade. If you have 10 or more people ask for group discounts!!!

When we plan a Pigeon Forge vacation, we like to include all our family and friends. We rent the largest mountain cabin and everyone splits the cost; we usually spend $15 per night...that's a great deal! Besides, this is the best way to spend quality time with family and friends that you haven't seen in a while. Saving on accommodation expenses lets you enjoy all the attractions and events that Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg has to offer. What a way to fill those scrapbooks and photo albums...MEMORIES, with people to love the most!

I have been visiting Pigeon Forge about 6 or 7 times per year for many years.
Now that I have children, the swimming pool has become a very important part of the visit. So I suggest, if you plan to use the pool at your hotel, that you either check into a hotel that has an indoor pool or has an indoor and an outdoor pool, just in case the rain clouds hit and your children are wanting to go swimming regardless. This seems to be especially true for June for some reason. :)

My family and I have spent every single family vacation in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area for the last 30 years. So, when my husband and I decided to get married, it seemed only natural to bring it to the Smokeys! Now, we have spent our family vacations with our children there as well. Each year there are new things to experience, new restaurants, shows, shops, etc. Some of our favorite things to do are mini-golf, Tanger Outlet Mall is great, Bennetts Pitt BBQ has the best breakfast buffett and lunch and dinner is wonderful as well. Log Cabin Pancake House has good breakfast and lunch. And a few years ago they opened Flapjacks, it is good also. We usually eat a big breakfast the hit the streets in Pigeon Forge and/or Gatlinburg for a day of shopping and fun. Places that you might try for dinner are Calhouns in Gatlinburg, The Peddler for great steak, and my husbands favorite is Alamo Steakhouse. You can't go wrong with Cracker Barrel or Golden Coral. We have stayed at many hotels in both areas. We especially enjoyed National Parks Resort Lodge, Schular Inn, and Smokey Shadows in Pigeon Fordge. In Galtinburg we like to stay at Midtown Lodge. Its right on the strip. We also stayed at Gatlinburg Inn, which is nice if you don't have children. They are pretty picky about things...they wont let you bring in any food from the outside. So, no pizza or leftovers please. But it is a beautiful and very well maintained Inn. And the women that run it are wonderful. We faithfully used to stay at Ledwell Motel at stop light #8 in Gatlinburg but it has been bought out by Sidney James. We have not been back but I am sure it is just as nice as before. We just took that oppurtunity to try some new places. We were very fond of the owners of The Ledwell and the way it was maintained. I guess were afraid it won't be the same...crazy I know. Any of the cabin rentals are a good bet. They are all so nice. We rented from Cove Mountain. There cabins are located anywhere from 10-20 mins from Pigeon Forge. They are really nice and they dont charge you all of the crazy fees that most of them do. You must take the drive around the 11 mile loop of Cades Cove. It is absolutly beautiful, especially if it is fall and the leaves have changed colors. If your a gambling kind a guy, hit Harrah's Casino in Cherokee, NC. About a 30 to 40 minute drive from Gatlinburg, and a gorgous drive it is. There are too many things to post about this area. I can assure you that it has something for everyone. A romantic getaway, family vacation, or a quiet retreat, you just can't go wrong visiting this area. Hope this post has helped someone decide on spending there vacation in these beautiful mountains.

I love coming to the mountains too. I live in WV and I still love coming here to the mountains. I love the shoppping in the outlet malls. Which at last count there was 3 I think. But I also love the Arts and Crafts Community in Gatlinburg. It seeems that there is a new discovery around every bend. I love Pigeon Forge at Christmas time. We come down every year just to do our Christmas shopping and to celebrate our anniversary. We love it. And you can get some real bargins and Christmas time too. The lines aren't as long and there is less crowds. We love it. I we prefer the winter time. Plus all the Christmas decorations are wonderful and really put you in the mood.

What can you say bad about Pigeon Forge? Besides Walt Disney World in Florida it is my favorite place to visit. (The people in pigeon Forge area are also much nicer than those in florida ) You can find anything you want to do from catching a show, to going crazy on rides in Dollywood or just sitting back in a rocker somewhere and relaxing. Young and old can be entertained while there. I can not think of one show that I would not recommend or go back to see again myself and Dollywood is enjoyable anytime. For those that love to shop there is many sideshops and outlets , with the Tanger Outlet being soooo large you can spend a couple days getting your hearts fill there.
for a good look at everything without haveing to get in the traffic yourself park and take the trolley , this affords the driver time to look and decide what they may like to do next. For those energetic persons take a stroll down the sidewalks lining both sides of the rode to take in the sights and sounds.
My best advice relax and enjoy. If you can't get it done in one trip you can always return .

The Popcorn Is Also Great. This Show Will Amaze You, Make You Laugh Til You Cry. My Husband And I Went There On Our One Year Anniversary And They Ask For Someone To Come On Stage . Of Course I Pointed To Him And He Was Picked... It Was So Funny That He Had People Coming Up To Him After The Show To Tell Him How Much They Enjoyed It.
I Would Also Recommend The Miracle. It Is An Uplifting Experience. It Includes Real Animals Including Sheep, Camels, Ect.......the Soud Effects Are Wonderful. You Will Love It.:) :)

Several very important tips include:
1. Get plenty of rest the day before you arrive. You won't want to slow down for a nap or some rest the first day you visit.
2. Get plenty of information, guides, pamphlets etc...so you won't miss a single thing while there. Set a schedule, be here for this show, there for that show, etc...and allow lots of extra time for the things you just can't pass up.
3. Get plenty of rest the first n ight you arrive, because you won't want to slow down the second day either, or the third, etc....
4. Bring a camera with lots of memory. The pictures will last until your next visit and remind you not to wait too long before returning.
5. Share the excitement you're going to have with family and friends. Bring them along
6. Prepare to have the adventure of a lifetime. There is only one Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Food, Fun, Shows, Adventure, Friendly folks, it is all there just waiting your arrival!:D :D :D

My husband and I have been visiting Pigeon Forge every year for about 10 years to celebrate our wedding anniversary. In the last 2 years we have gone during November when they have Winter Fest. The hotel prices are really reasonable since it is considered off season. During Winter Fest, Dollywood has a Christmas theme which is beautiful. The whole town of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are decorated for Christmas. Make sure you go on the Trolley Ride at night to see the lights. It is awesome. Through the main road in Pigeon Forge they have the 12 Days of Christmas. Don't forget to visit our favorite restaurant, the Apple Barn for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is delicious and you get a lot of food. Try Winter Fest, it is something to see.

I remember going to the Smoky Mountains when I was very young. One of my MOST favorite things to do was visit all the candy shops and look through their windows as the candy was being made. Once my parents and sister and I stayed in a motel there in Gatlinburg that had a small cottage at the back and beside the cottage was a cement like thing that had fish in it. That has stuck with me for years and it was one of my most favorite times. Back then it was not so fast paced and crowed as it is today and I have a lot of good memories from those days.
In more recent times, I have enjoyed going to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge when they have the Southern Gospel Singing month. If you enjoy gospel music, it is fantastic! Not to mention the fabulous food to be had in Dollywood, along with the shops and attractions you'll have a blast!!!!
Well, those are my thoughts, wish I were there now!!!

I have been coming to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area for many, many years. My favorite spot is the family campground next to the river just before you enter into the National Forest. As a kid we used to fish in the creek. Never caught a thing that I can remember, but oh what memories. Now in my late 40s I still like to walk in the creek and sometimes put a pole in my hand just so I can "feel" those memories. Hungry,? The Pancake House is the best for breakfast if the campfire is out. Tennessee is just a peaceful, pleasant, down-home place to visit. Pigeon Forge city limits used to stop about a mile out of the park - my how things have changed.
So until next time, from an Indiana admirer.

Pigeon Forge Has Got To Be One Of The Best Places We Have Ever Been Whenever We Want To "get Away From It All." We Love To Stay In A Cabin In The Mountains--they Furnish All The Necessities, Except Food Of Course. The Hot Tubs That Are In The Cabins Offer A Nice, Quiet Pleasure. We Bring Our Grandchildren To Pigeon Forge Whenever They Come From Out Of State To Visit. I Can't Tell You How Many Times We Have Been To See The Dixie Stampede. One Of The Favorites Of Our Grandchildren Is The Black Bear Theater. The Biggest Reason We Love To Go To Pigeon Forge Is That You Don't Have To Worry About What You Will See Or Hear At Any Of The Shows You Attend. It Is All Good, Clean Entertainment.

We are frequent visitors to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg: 3-4 times a year. Great times to visit the area are in early spring and late fall. However, if you have children like us, you'll want to take a family vacation during the summer months when school is out, along with everyone else. Traffic can be quite cumbersome during the summer so pick up a Seviere County map while you're there and learn about alternate routes that can by-pass a lot of the traffic that is experienced on the parkway. It has been our best purchase and we always take it with us when we visit the area.

I LOVE PIGEON FORGE!!! I have been there twice, and I love it so much I plan to move there in a few years! When I went, I have gone to many many shows. I recommend The Miracle, Comedy Barn, a lot of the shows in Dollywood, the '50s show, Country Tonite, and so many more.
I have been to Dollywood twice, and went to see James Rogers both times! He is such an awesome performer!!! He takes time after his show, which is very patriotic, and meets with anyone who wants. He has a great voice and a great message about freedom in all of his music!
If you are a rollercoaster fan, go on the Tennessee Tornado, Blazing Fury, The Thunderhead and the newest rollercoaster, The Mystery Mine Ride!!! They are all wonderful!!!
The last time I went to Pigeon Forge, my family rented a log house up in the mountains. It was so calm and serene, and not very far from town. If you have a chance to rent one of these wonderful houses, you should take it!
Basically, I think that Pigeon Forge is the best place to vacation!!! I live in Florida, and I would rather spend vacation in Tennessee than in Orlando!!!
God bless!!! :D

Our family has visited the Great Smokies for the last 2 years. The first year we went twice that year. At 4th of July and then in November. We got the hot and the cold times of the year. It was great. We like staying at a hotel in the Summer for pool time and at a cabin in Winter because it is nice with the fireplace. A lot like home. The things we love in Pigeon Forge are so many that I hope I can name them all. The places we go everytime are Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, Comedy Barn & my parents usually do the Blackwood family breakfast. We also visit the Tanger outlet malls. They have great school shopping. We like to eat at the Old Mill; however if it is packed we go to the cafe across the street. Most people don't know it there and they serve great food. Comedy Barn has a fantastic show. The last 3 times we have been there they have done pretty much the same show but we laugh our heads off everytime. If you order your tickets online is it is cheaper but the seats are not as close. We had to pay for ours in person this last time and we were on the fourth row and paid about six dollars more. Dixie Stampede is opposite. We ordered our most recent ones online and had great seats. Last year we got them the week we were there and our seats were at the very top. We didn't like those as well. There are so many good family places. There is a Christmas store open year round that is so nice. There or family race trax with arcade games for the kids. We also love to eat at the American Bread company. Most people don't know it is there but the pizzas are stone oven cooked. I love them. They are located close to the Christmas store. So many place and things to do. We would like to do Splash country next time. The kids will love that. A place my daughter loved was Boyd's bear but it closed. That is just a few things my family loves. Hope you enjoyed hearing about them.

My wife and I have been coming to Pigeon Forge since 1971. The first time we stayed there we visited a "tropical Island" area in the north end of town near where the outlet mall is now. We have always loved Pigeon Forge and it's people, great food and entertainment. What great times we have had there over the years! The Apple Barn, The Old Mill, The pancake houses, Louise Mandrell, Jimmy Rogers, The Norma Dan motel many years ago and the Hampton Inn on the River just last year. Pigeon Forge is a great family town!

My husband and I are both handicap and we park near red light 3 and use our power chairs to get down main street. All the shops are handicap accessable and people nearly fight to help you in and out of the doors. I really like to sidewalks that have to little ramps and we don't fight any traffic acept foot traffic. LOL

My tip is you have to go to the Ripley's aquarium. It is amazing. I loved it. It is so relaxing, cool & interesting. I loved everything about it and you can go through at your own pace. You can also go through as many times as you like as long as you don't go out the exit doors.

I agree I have only been at Christmas time once about 12 years ago to watched my aunt get married there. I didn't have time to check out Dollywood or any of the shows but the Christmas lights were just amazing. It is like a winter wonderland. The wedding chapel was decorated for Christmas and made the wedding beautiful. I'm sure they have added lots of new lights and I want to go spend some time there at Christmas and see the shows. My list includes Dollywood, Dixie stampede, Christus Gardens, the Ripleys aquarium and some others. They all would be cool at Christmas time.

My first visit to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville was with my son and daughter and thier families in summer of 2001. We had a wonderful time plus my daugther in laws parents were working at DollyWood at the time so we had alot of inside tips of were the best places were to eat and things to see and do and there is something for everyone that they would like to do or see and for all ages.
A year latter I got married to a wonderful man and he took me on our honeymoon there and we have been going back a couple of times a year since. We just love it. Our favorite places to eat are at the Apple Barn and also the Old Mill. They aren't afaid to give you alot of food. Thier apple and corn fritters are out of this world. I could just make a meal off of them. They are so good. Our favorite show and diner is the Dixie Stampede but the funnies is the Comedy Barn Theater althought all the show are great. I could go to Dolly Wood everyday they also have great shows and alot of things to do for all ages.
You can't find another area where the people are so friendly and they will answer any questions you might have. They just love to talk to you and tell you little stories about places or people around there.
We go from one town to the next and always find something to do and they are always adding more things to do so there is always something new to see. We still haven't seen it all so we keep coming back. The shopping is great to. They have all kinds of places to shop. In Gatlinburg we like to go up one side of the street shopping and looking and down the other side.
We along with our daughter and her family live at the top of Va. and my son and his family live in Ark. so this time last summer we rented a cabin and all met for a week of fun down there. We got alot done in a weeks time but still there was lots more to see and do. You can't find a better place to vacation at. We are always telling someone about it or talking to someone that has been there about it. We like to go during the week when the trafic isn't so bad. I can't say enough about Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville as they are all great places to for a great vacation. Lillian and Glenn

Huck Finn's is a great place to eat. It isn't that expensive and the free unlimited 'vittles' they bring to your table are always good. The service is friendly and our server offered suggestions about things to do and places to go. Our ordered food was also very tasty. Another great place to eat is The Old Mill, especially breakfast - it is very good!

Gatlinburg is a wonderful place to visit. I was recently married in Gatlinburg, because it is so beautiful there. I would recommend to anyone to get married there, they take care of everything all you have to do is show up and make a memory that will last for a lifetime.

We made our 5th. trip to Pigon Forge last year with our grandchildren. My husband just loves Dollywood. Our Grandkids thought it was just great. We like it because it is so family oriented. You do not have to be afraid to take children to any show. It is such an easy city to get around in. We love the fact that the Traffic lights are all numbered. Makes it easier to find where you want to go. We love the Old Mill . Great place to eat. I am sure we will be returning again very soon. :o

We try to come to sevierville every year for our anniveraery, 2-7. we stay at Shular Inn, they got an inside pool that never close. we go to it around 1 or 2 in the mor. All the workers are so nice. Always take 1 day just to do spur of the moment things. When we come up there we get to go to one thing, my best one so far is CHRISTUS Gardens, this is so awesome. When we have to come home we both have tears. we would love to just live there.

I go to the Pigeon Forge area avery year, sometimes twice, I love it! I have stayed in hotels and cabins, and prefer the cabins, as long as it has a hot tub, and a fireplace in the winter.
I hit all the outlet malls, you have to know your prices before you go shopping, and at times you can find some awesome deals! One of my favorite places to go is the Black Bear Jamboree for the dinner and show! It is a great show and the food is wonderful. I liked the Dixie Stampede, but the thought of all that dirt flying around while I was eating, wasn't appetizing. But the show was worthwhile.
I always park my car and use the trolley. When I first get there I will ride the trolley from one end and back, just to see everything and note any changes.
And if you never have, do take the helicopter tour at least once! What a thrill! And everytime I go, I love Ripleys Aquarium, great for the child in all of us!
Have a great time in Pigeon Forge!

"Our Pigeon Forge" is a place I can take my children and although it has grown and proves to have a new adventure everytime we visit, it is still the same safe place I grew to love as a chlid when my parents took me there over 35 years ago. It is a place we never get tired of visiting, a place we love to share with friends and family, a place we feel safe with our children at and a palce just like home.

My wife and I had a wonderful experince several years ago, we often laugh about being married in the back room of a "Feed Store", however upon entering Temples Feed store across from the Court House we were introduced to Mr. Temple. He was a delightful man who seemed to have held every political office in the County during the past 50 years, he was a Shriner and upon talking to him I realized he was everything the area stood for. After a long interview he performed our wedding service, nothing cheesy, just good folks meeting on common ground. After the ceremony I ask what we owed and his reply was, "nothing to me but I would accept a donation for my Church", it was then I realized just how very special this area and all its people are. So here is to Mr. Temple, the perfect example of this great mountain area!"Our Pigeon Forge" is a place I can take my children and although it has grown and proves to have a new adventure everytime we visit, it is still the same safe place I grew to love as a chlid when my parents took me there over 35 years ago. It is a place we never get tired of visiting, a place we love to share with friends and family, a place we feel safe with our children at and a palce just like home.

We love to vacation in Pigeon Forge..Nascar Speedway is our favorite for the kids..Many go-cart tracks AND you can buy an all day pass to ride as many times you want. They do have other rides also and the little kids of all ages will have a great time while you sit and watch on the many benches. This is ONE place you got to visit at the end of strip close to Sevierville. You won't be wasting your money.for sure. The Miracle is a must see.,plus they have real camels out front for you to ride on. And the pictures they take are the BEST, I mean BEST :) we have seen.
We made a mistake last time and eat before visiting some places. Got in and found they have concession stands. Not bad prices, either.
We stay in differant places each time but have only found one so far that we will not stay in because the room and especially bathroom had mold.
A great place to vacation. Everyone friendly, prices reasonable, cool at night, what more could you ask for? Krispy Kreame Doughnuts..yummy!!

I go to the Smokies at least once a year and I hope to get to go back again this year. I have seen alot of the shows and they never get old and boring to me. As far as restaurants go there are many to choose from, no matter what your taste or family size is. Make sure you see Cades Cove and the Comedy Barn, if I could only do 2 things that would be a must.

Our Best Tip For Visiting Pigeon Forge Is To First Relax And Soak In The Beautiful Scenery That Only God Has Made And Next Decide If We Want To Shop, Eat, Or Go To A Show. This Depends On Who Is With Us. If It Is Just The Two Of Us, We Usually Go Eat! The Apple Barn Is One Of Our Favorites, Memories Theatre Is A Favorite Show. Dollywood Supplies It All Food, Numerous Shows, Etc. A Season Pass Is A Good Investment.

My husband and I have visited Pigeon Forge several times in the past two years. We have stayed at Riverside Motor Lodge during these visits and have loved it there. The rooms are very clean and the service is great. Most of the rooms have jacuzzis in the room and a fireplace, and the decor is not just the run of the mill motel drab. It is "homey" and very nice. It is located right in the middle of Parkway and is within walking distance of just about everything. The prices are very reasonable and even a lot less than some of the local places, even though they offer so much. There is a swimming pool also. Be sure to stay there if you go to Pigeon Forge. You will not be sorry.

I have been going to Pigeon Forge for over 30 years. We always like to have the vehicle packed the night before so we can leave really early. We like to arrive in Pigeon Forge by 8 a.m. and the only way to start your day is with a big breakfast at Golden Corral. This is important because with 3 ladies you will need a lot of fuel to carry the packages from a morning of shopping. The outlet malls are great but we like to try to find the little shops on the back streets just off the beaten path that is where you find unique and hidden treasures. After a day of shopping we like to take in a good dinner and a show. Our personal favorite is the Comedy Barn because it is a fast paced clean entertainment that even my kids enjoy. After the show there is no way to get to bed until the kids have hit at least 3 go kart tracks. Then it is time to have a snack of ice cream or maybe fresh doughnuts. My personal way to end our first day in Pigeon Forge is to shed the walking shoes soak your feet and let the kids plan the rest of the week. I have found no other vacation so fun filled and relaxing. So if you see a big man following 3 ladies carrying packages stacked above his head that would be me.
P.S. thank God I have 2 boys to help.

My husband and I love to come to Pigeon Forge. We love the shows. Comedy Barn, Black Bear, Dixie Stampede, and We love Lou Vuto. We usually come to Pigeon Forge at least twice a year. We usually stay at the best place that we can get corporate discounts. We have stayed at Laqunita, and Rodeway Inn, and we have stayed at Willow Brook. They have all been nice and we enjoyed the pool. We have eaten at the Old Mill and we loved it. We like to hit the shops, and when we bring our granddaughter she loves the amusement parks. I have told my husband that I could live in Pigeon Forge. The weather is usually so nice when we come. Thanks for such a nice place to come and visit.

My husband and I have been enjoying the Pigeon Forge area for many years, but we still have not exhausted your picturesque area, as we love it there. We very seldom book our hotel room in advance . My tip would be to go there when there are no major events going on, and you'd be sure to find reasonably priced accommodation,as we are from Canada and our dollar is less than yours.
We usually drive and when we get there we go to the visitors centre and pick up all the hotel discount books. Most times we find your basic hotel rooms that are reasonably neat and clean. We only sleep in the room anyway, so why pay a fortune ? However 2 years ago ,for our anniversary we headed to your beautiful area, but did not realize that it was the Memorial Day weekend. Needless to say, we could not find a motel or hotel suite or a barn in which we could stay ,so we drove back home. So please check the calendar of events before heading out.
Recently we found a coupon at the hotel where we were staying- it was 30% less on Bass shoes. Amazingly, 3 pairs of shoes followed me home and I did not have the heart to send them back. At times my husband calls me a centipede or Imelda Marcos, as shoes is my weakness. So always watch for coupons anywhere.
Happy travels

We try to go to pigeon forge as often as possible. We think the best place to stay is a cabin and there are plenty of rental companies. Find the right cabin and it is so quiet and peaceful. Dont get me wrong we enjoy the shows also. And we also like to get in our truck and ride and see all the back roads and country it is so beautiful. And we eat at the Old Mill restuarant every morning we are there.

I live in Alabama and have been to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville several times. The greatest thing I discovered is the Pendleton clothing store in Pigeon Forge. This store carries petite sizes which I need. I live in Alabama and have always bought Pendleton clothes in Atlanta Ga. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the Pendleton store in Pigeon Forge. My greater surprise was the fact that the clothes are half the cost of what they are in Atlanta. So I can take a wonderful vacation in the mountains and do my shopping too.

We first visited Pigeon Forge on my one year wedding anniversary during Labor Day week. It wasn't as crowded as I thought. We stayed at one of Aunt Bug's cabins. Our cabin was supposed to have a creek running by. Well it did but it was so far below the cabin you couldn't even see it. You could hear it though. Anyway, it was still a nice getaway. We went to Cade's Cove. We never saw a bear so we paid to see a few and one of the gift shops on the strip. Those bears are way overfed but it was still cool to see them up close. As far as pancake houses, we love Flapjacks. The banana pancakes are awesome. We went to the Black Bear Jamboree dinner show and loved it. The food was great. We did a time share thing just to get free tickets to Dollywood. It was worth it for not having to pay the price of the tickets. Dollywood was very nice.
After losing everythig we owned from Hurricane Katrina we moved to the Knoxville area. Now we are able to go to Pigeon Forge whenever we want.

I love Pigeon Forge, I have been vacationing in Pigeon Forge since I was little, my husband and I were even married there 8 years ago, now I have my own family it's neat to take the kids and do the some of the same things I did when I was little. We have stayed at the Mountain Breeze Motel during most of our trips. It's clean and the rates are reasonable, and it's nice sitting on the balcony at night watching all the traffic go by. You can get some great deals online, and from coupon books, some even give you free nights if you stay so many days. We love all the pancake places for breakfast, you get a lot of food for a little price. Then have one big meal a day at a nice restaurant. Our favorite is The Old Mill, if you go there prices are cheaper during the week then on weekends, but even on weekends it's well worth it. $18.00 per person on weekends gets you fritters, corn chowder, side salad, all the green beans and mashed potatoes you can eat, your main dish (the chicken & dumplings are to die for) and choice of 3 different desserts. Real home cooking, if you leave that place hungry it's your own fault. The kids love the go karts, $30 + tax will get you a wristband at Nascar speedpark, where you can ride everything (except the one adult go carts and motion simulator) as many times as you want. There are several other go kart places that offer combo tickets which saves you $$, and some are buy 1 get 1 free before a certain time. We also love The Comedy Barn! It's great for the whole family. Kids get in for free. Purchase the souvenir key chain and you'll save $2.00 off future admissions (ours has already paid for itself) and they have a place in the front lobby where you can buy discount show tickets for some of the other shows in town. The Magic Beyond Belief show is another great show for kids. Kids get in free and you can clip a coupon for a free small popcorn saving yourself $2.75 per popcorn. The show is awesome and really keeps the kids attention. The best thing about Pigeon Forge is parking is FREE, that's right FREE parking! If you plan to travel into Gatlinburg make sure you make a day of it because parking can go as high as $10. The trolley is another alternative for only $0.50, it gives you a chance to check out the parkway and not worry about the traffic. You can find some really great buys at the factory outlets, something for everyone. Sometimes they have tax free days, so check with the malls ahead of time if your planning your trip for shopping. Make sure you grab some of them coupon books also, you can save a lot of money, and they are available everywhere, welcome center, hotels, restaurants, etc. You can also do the time share tours, it's not a gimmick, they really do give you your gifts. You can get free show tickets, or money. We did two on our last trip and got $200 and a $25 gift card for Hard Rock. They offer a kids room so they don't get bored listening to the presentation. There's so much to see and do in Pigeon Forge, my best tip though is "Just Have Fun!!"

The best tip I have for visiting the Pigeon Forge area is to bring your smile and your fun shoes because you are gonna need 'em. Then again, if your smile doesn't come with you it will definitely be there shortly. The first stop, when you arrive, for new or semi-new visitors is to stop at one of the welcome centers. They have lots of brochures, coupons, suggestions and very friendly people - like everywhere there. (We've been going for 15-17 years and we still find out about stuff to do and places to go that have been there for years - so you don't have to be a new visitor to go there.)
For us, Dixie Stampede is a must. We always enjoy Dollywood, too. I'm at a loss for words about The Miracle Theater - you'll enjoy it even if you aren't religious. Magic Beyond Belief is wonderful (you'll become a child again) and Wonder Works provides a great interactive experience for children of all ages (even middle-aged). These few represent a tiny dot in all the things there are to do.
Even if you are on a limited budget, there is still lots of fun to be had. There are many things that have little or no cost. Bring your bikes and find some trails where you can ride (or walk) and discover the mountains from a different perspective. There are lots of critters and friendly animals in lots of places. We stayed in a cabin once where we were entertained by a raccoon family. The mom would come up on the balcony and she really enjoyed Cheerios cereal. Her three babies would play for hours in a couple of trees nearby. In another cabin, our balcony was about 20 feet from the ground over a wooded area and we were visited by a couple of black bears who really enjoyed the bread and potatoes we had. If you tried to get close enough to get a really good close up picture they would run and hide. They would stay around and play for a couple of hours every morning and every evening. There are waterfalls you can visit - we just discovered - and some of them are easily accessible. (We will definitely do this on our next trip.) Bring your fishing gear and you can find a river, pond, or lake close by and relax by the water - be sure to get a TN fishing license. Or you can just wade out into the little rivers and streams all around. Just be careful, the rocks are sometimes quite slippery.
Another money saving adventure is the trolley. You can ride over to Gatlinburg and/or Sevierville or even out to Dollywood. You not only save money by not burning your gas but you get an added bonus of seeing lots of things you may not notice when you are driving along. You also get to meet lots of other interesting folks and compare notes with them as to what to do and where to go. The drivers are always quite interesting and will make suggestions.
You can shop! shop! shop! and eat! eat! eat! There is definitely no shortage on either in the area. We always enjoy getting out at night and just walking the streets of Pigeon Forge - sometimes a mile or two without even noticing. It is usually quite active - putt putt golf, go-carts, etc. There is something for all to do. You can stop into several of the shops for candy or ice cream or some other snack. And everyone is so friendly!
Visit some of the caverns and coves. They are always a delight. The countryside is unrivaled. Sometimes if you take some of the side roads and just go for a ride - you may turn a curve and be rewarded with a view that will leave you breathless with it's beauty. You may even see deer feeding in an open meadow, black bear near a wooded area, or ducks/geese roving around or sailing upon the waters of a pond.
THIS IS DEFINITELY THE AREA YOU WANT TO PLAN A VACATION AROUND!!!!

My tips for visiting Pigeon Forge, or more specifically, Dollywood.
1. Wear a fanny pack/belt bag to hold items such as keys, camera, money, sun screen, sun glasses, lip balm, first aid kit (details later) and whatever else you may need.
2. If you are taking a digital camera and are parking in a large lot, take a photo of the row/section sign so that you can easily locate you vehicle after a long exhausting day.
3. Don't carry bottles of water around all day, they offer free cups of ice water at most all of the restaurants
4 (probably my best tip!) Take several small zip lock type baggies with you for your camera and any other valuables you need to protect from water. They will take up little room in you pack/bag and will protect your camera should you visit any water type attractions. I have seen so many people looking forlornly at their cameras after a water ride, please protect yours. Whether it is an expensive digital camera or an inexpensive disposable one, nothing is worse than losing cherished vacation photos to water.
5. Get to the park early and head straight for the back. It will be a lot less crowded and you will be working your way back toward your end destination. The front of the park always fills up first.
6. To save money on eating if you have a large group, pack a picnic lunch. You can have your hand stamped at the gate, go find a nice, quiet, relaxing spot in the forest and eat your lunch, then return to the park.
7. As I'm sure many others have mentioned, if you can, take advantage of Dollywoods' After 3 PM, Next Day Free option.
As for Pigeon Forge in general, you should try to prepare as best as you can prior to arriving. Visit your local Super Center type store to purchase things you might normally purchase while on vacation, such as snacks to keep in the hotel (granola, fruits, water, etc.) picnicking supplies you might need such as paper plates, napkins and plastic flatware. My local Wal Mart Super Center has $1 areas set up throughout the store (often near the checkouts) where I can get small first aid kits (which are small enough to fit well in your fanny pack, yet contain several bandages, wraps and alcohol swabs that can come in handy, especially if you have children). There are also small, convenient packs of handy-wipes, pain relievers (Advil, Tylenol, Asprin) and various other need-to-haves for $1 or less. You can save yourself a ton of money if you purchase these things before hand, they are often more expensive when vacationing. Not only will you save money, but also valuable vacation time.
The shows and attractions. All I can say is, I have seen a great many of them and have never been disappointed. My entire family agrees however, that the Comedy Barn is the absolute best. You are assuredly going to laugh till you cry!
We try to visit Pigeon Forge every year when our budget allows, and while the shows, theme parks and other attractions are all wonderful, try not to forget to enjoy God's country.... they have plenty of that too, and it is some of the most absolute beautiful you will ever see. She is simply gorgeous all around. The locals seem to know what a treasure they have there, and they take care of her. Since they are kind enough to share it, lets respect that and do our part. PLEASE, don't litter the Forest, or any other part of the area. (I couldn't help adding that in with my tips. It is totally depressing to go on a hike or picnic through the parks and see trash carelessly thrown around)
Wow. I thought of a zillion tips I wanted to share, then I started typing, LOL! I will add the others when I remember them. Hope some of these help you enjoy your vacation to Pigeon Forge.
TIP # 4, to me, is especially important. :)

We are headed to Pigeon Forge the week of the 6th. I can't wait. I found that the computer was the best way to find the best deals. I found the package deals where they work the lodging and the shows that we are interested in and give me one price for all. Everything is taken care of for me, the tickets will be waiting for me at the front desk and all. It has been over 11 years since I have been there. My 2 girls have never been so we are really hyped. I went to pigeonforge.com and found all sorts of information that I need. They have every package that you could think of, from weddings and honeymoons to just a weekend getaway. Thank goodness I found this because it sure looks like it has changed in the length of time that I have been there. Well that is about it that I can say now, but I will be glad to post after we come back!!!! YAY!!! its' almost here..:)

Good luck and welcome to Inside Pigeon Forge![/QUOTE]
It's been years since we've been to TN. We're taking a family trip with kids 4 to 10. There seems to be a lot to do. I've done a lot of reseach on the internet. We're staying in a cabin in the mountains and can't wait to come.

My wife and me have been to Pigeon Forge a lot of times, we try to come every year. We love to come and just talk to the people who lives there, yall are our kind of folks. If you need to know how to get some where, yall are gald to tell you how to get there. No matter if it is in Pigeon Forge, are some where else. We was told about a Chinese Rest. that was all you can eat Buffet in Sevierville, it was great and very afordable. There is a lot of things to do that are free. We love to just walk around and look at all the diffrent things. Which that makes it so nice, because most of the time we don't have a lot of money to go to the atacktion. May GOD Bless and keep you.

First of all, go to the welcome center, view the brochures and plan your itenerary. If you are going to Dollywood, go after 3 pm and you will be admitted free the following day. You can plan your show schedule for the following day at Dollywood and will not miss many shows by going two days. As far as the shows in Pigeon Forge, all of the ones that I have seen are very good. We recently saw Country Tonight, the Miracle, and ate at Fiddlers Feast. The entertainers in the shows always meet you in the lobby as you leave, and really seem to appreciate your attendance. They really seem more genuine than performers that I have seen at other locations. I have also been to Black Bear Jamboree and Comedy Barn in the past. They are very good also. You can also purchase Black Bear Jamboree and Miracle tickets and receive an additional show free. Please check this out with Black Bear before purchasing tickets. They also sell some other show tickets at a discount at Black Bear through Discount Show Tickets. Spend several days in the area and enjoy as many shows as possible, as well as the Smokey Mountain Park, caves and other natural attractions. If possible, stay in a cabin or chalet that will provide more room, especially with children. As far as the dinner shows, I would highly recommend Black Bear and Dixie Stampede with children. Black Bear has the animated bears, in addition to the variety show, and Dixie Stampede has the horses. Fiddlers Feast is good also, but is more of a variety show with singing, instrumentals and comedy.

Going to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg requires more than one days stay. There's just too much to do and see! Pigeon Forge is loaded with all kinds of outlet malls to shop till you drop at and right now is one of the best times to go, right before school starts with all their back-to-school specials! Let dad take the kids to the go-carts and the miniature golf places while you moms take out all the shopping. Then, get together for lunch at one of hundreds of fantastic places to eat, many of them have specials for the kids to eat at a discount or even free! Then, drive over to Gatlinburg in the evening and let the whole family enjoy the Ripley's Aquarium! It's one of a kind and one of our family's favorite places to go. We never get tired of going there. There's always something new everytime. Ripley's also, has several other attractions in the same area within walking distance of the Aquarium that doesn't take that long to visit and are very fun to see. While you are walking the streets in Gatlinburg, try some of the wonderful fudge and other homemade candies you'll find along in the shops there. Then, hopefully, for dinner, you will have tickets that night for either the Dixie Stampede, the Black Bear Jamboree, or one of the other many dinner theaters in the Pigeon Forge area. The Comedy Barn is also one of our favorite places to visit when in Pigeon Forge. You'll leave with your sides aching from laughter. My friend, who was raised with our family and is like a little brother to me, Charlie King, works there and is very tallented. Tell him that Debbie Young sent you (his big sister). He'll probably pull some kind of prank on you! After the night has worn you out, find you one of many nice and reasonable motel rooms to kick back in and relax in till morning when you need to get an early start and go to no other place than... Dollywood, of course! No one can go to Pigeon Forge and not go to Dollywood! That would be like going to Nashville and never seeing the Grand Old Opry! Plan on spending the whole day at Dollywood, because it's so worth it! Whatever you do, don't miss the live gospel shows performed there daily. I highly recommend them, especially the "Kingdom Heirs." They are fantastic and are so friendly and will talk with you. I was so blessed to actually meet my idol, Ms. Dottie Rambo, last October, the greatest gospel songwriter in history, in my book. It can't get any better than that!
Don't miss all the music, the other shows, the rides, and the wonderful food at Dollywood. You'll get hooked on Dollywood for sure. I did.
Well, that's only 2 days, and there's so much more I could tell you about. I'll save that for later. Take my advice...go to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood. You will have the time of your life and plenty of "Kodak Moments." Happy Vacating! ;)

I have been numerous times to enjoy all of this wonderful location. In all, I find the best times of visiting to be in the fall or early spring. Many vacationers are present in the summer and congestion is heavier. Fall is a great time to visit with the refreshing fall air. Events seem to be less crowded and the general lifestyle is more relaxing. Spring also is a great. So schedule an out of season experience that you will enjoy in a relaxed mood.

We have visited this beautiful location numerous times and all visits have been great with all the activities, shows, excellent meals and an overall relaxing atmosphere. But the best times to visit is the fall or spring when the weather is at it's best and many vacationers are back to work. The traffic flows more freely and you're in a better relaxed stage. So hop on board and enjoy the fall and spring visits to this breathtaking aray of fall or the awakening of spring.

If your are going down the Parkway from Sevierville (stuck in traffic:( ) and your trying to get to the other end of Pigeon forge, take a left at traffic light #2 and take Teester Lane , This will take you all the way down to Dollywood Lane, you can cut over to the parkway at several stop lights. This can save a lot of time. There is Also a great little Japanese resturant on Teester Lane called Little Tokoyo. they are brand new. Great food!!!.:)

I love Pigeon Forge! My husband and I visit there every Christmas and we always have the best time. We enjoy staying in cabins but we also stayed at the Vacation Lodge, which is a really nice hotel. Our favorite place to eat is the AppleWood Restaurant, it's awesome! We also enjoy Calhouns, we discovered that last year. There is so much to do, go-carts, bungy jump, play put-put, or go see a show like the Dixie Stampede or the Comedy Barn. The new show the Miracle is really good too. Dollywood is extremely beautiful at Christmas time and lots of fun any other time of the year. I look forward to our trip there every year!

We have enjoyed visiting Pigeon Forge for many years. We love all the shows that they have to offer, especially the Comedy Barn. The Apple Barn is also a place that we plan to visit a few times before we leave, (my husband loves the apple pie/ice cream). If you are planning to go to Dollywood, if you purchase your tickets after 3:00pm you also get the next day free-I have found that riding the rides after 3:00pm there seems to be less of a wait,, then when we return the next day, we visit the rest of the park. I always look forward to our yearly trip to the area,, We never get tired of vacationing there. Have fun!!

Another tip: Pigeon Forge is an excellent place for some serious shopping. One thing I always find helpful, is to pack an empty luggage bag to take. That way when we visit the outlet malls and such, we have a place to store the items we purchase. This reduces the number of smaller shopping bags and also helps to protect the goodies better when traveling back home.
Also, I see many other folks have also recommended the Comedy Barn. My Family loves that attraction, and we always purchase the video after the show. You may want to also, so here is a link to a coupon site that has TONS of coupons for Pigeon Forge, and includes one for $2 off the purchase of the video at Comedy Barn. Even if you're not interested in the Comedy Barn, check out the coupons!:)
Have not verified that these coupons are good, but they appear to be from a reliable source.

We love going to Pigeon Forge for a time to get away. Everything is so peaceful there and it's such a great environment for families. You feel safe and secure which helps everyone to lighten up and have fun! The shows are amazing! Comedy Barn is one of our family favorites. There are lots of laughs guaranteed! The Diner next door is a fun place to go for dinner or just for a late night snack when the show is over. The Pigeon Forge area has been our vacation choice for a number of years and will continue to be our choice for years to come!

We make a reservation at one of the beautiful cabins, my favorite was the cabins at Mountain Top. Beautiful views and close to everything. We love the Dixie Stampede and the Comedy Barn with Grandma and of course you can't leave out Dollywood, Great Amusement Park. Laughed till we cried. Last year we brought our youth group to see the Miracle. It was a spectacular show. The shops at Tanger and the Red Roof are great. We have been back to school shopping there. You have to visit Cades Cove when you come though, there's nothing better that being in the Mountains with the animals, what a way to get back to nature. We have been in all seasons and I think fall is my favorite. Cool enough for a fire at night but not cool enough you still can't get out and ride a go-cart with the kids. We'll come back again and again.

When you're visiting Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and you know it will be crowded, reservations are definitely best. Stop at the Visitor's Center crossing the state line and get the publications with coupons. Many times nice motels/hotels have steep discounted coupons that they will honor upon check-in.

For our family, the most exciting, relaxing, and enjoyable experience each year is to run away from our everyday busy lives and enjoy some time in the mountains atmosphere of Pigeon Forge. We can enjoy each other, spend quality time walking through the shops, sitting down enjoying each others company, and best of all just being together.
It's not alot that our family (3 children, husband, and me) can enjoy quality time together, but the trip to Pigeon Forge allows us to do just that. The children enjoy go-carts, bumper boats, Ripley's as my husband and I jump right in and join them. We tend to get competitive on those ride :-)
We are taking our trip to Pigeo
