The best tip I can give is to do as I do..rent a cabin or chalet for as long as you can, and do miniature golf, race track cars, looking thru the Christmas stores, all of them, taking a break to eat at the applewood restaurant or grill, and be sure you go to the barn, and the giftshop, and watch them make apple turnovers. If you miss this place, you have lost out, I tell ya, on a good meal and a good time. In the mood for seafood..you have to go to Pops on the River in Severville, or the one in Pigeon Forge. Talk about seafood! Their blackberry cobbler is to die for! Dixie Stampede is great for all ages, and the Black Bear Jamboree is good. The Murder Mystery Theater is great, with audience participation. As for shopping, I have found all the outlets are great. We try to go 2 or 3 times a year if we can, just to chill out and relax. Also, I forgot to mention the Comedy Barn, which is a hoot, and the Magic Show. If your little ones are into dinosaurs, there is a small museum there, also. There is something for everyone, and if you love to walk, you can do about everything on foot or take the trolly and leave the driving to them

My Wife and I visit three times each year and we always visit Dollywood , and Murder Mystery Theater, both we enjoy each time we visit. We usually stay at Norma Dan Motel which is very affordable and good , clean place to stay. The shows and food at Murder Mystery Theater are always delightful.
I love coming to Pigeon Forge since my Heart Attack i love my visits as time away from my stressful job. I recommend Visits and relaxation. My wife shops till she drops.:)

The best tip I have for visiting is to simply go without an agenda. :) I go every year about this time and usually stay at one of Aunt Bugs cabins. I go with no real plans other than to see all the beautiful cars. The thing about going with an agenda is you still know you will always have fun because things are always catching my eye and I do them without rush of "what's next" and truly get to enjoy my every moment. In our everyday life, we have everything scheduled, where to be, when and what we are doing, so when you go to the beautiful smoky mountians, leave all of that behind and just go with the flow. Enjoy it while it last!!!!:)

I have been to Pigeon Forge several times in the past few years and have rented cabins through American Patriot Getaways. Each time I have had the most beautiful, well kept, clean cabin. The people there were very friendly and helpful and the prices were also good. Go to their website www.patriotgetaways.com, you can browse through all their cabins before you make your choice. They have them from studio cabins, to multi-level for large families or groups. But I must warn you, it is hard to make a decision they have so many beautiful cabins. They can even arrange to have tickets to several different shows and attractions and you can even arrange to get massages in your cabin. I also like to take the trolly over to Gatlinburg for browsing the shops, or eating out, parking is not easy and you have to pay to park . I would suggest if you're going to the Arts and Crafts Community that you drive. If you do decide to take the trolly, go early as possible. The first time I went there were a lot a shops I couldn't stop at because you had to wait for the trolly between sections. Some of the sections were only two or three shops and the trolly stops were an hour apart. Psst...girls, Men don't like Tea Parties! (My boyfriend and I went to one last year, and while he was a good sport, didn't like it) There are so many things to do, if you like horseback riding...check out several different stables, and some of them offer coupons. I also love eating at the Sagebrush Steakhouse! Their steaks are so good, they will make your mouth water just thinking about them. The best thing is, don't make plans...go with the flow, be spontanious, have fun, most of all be safe!

Have a plan before you go. Check out websites, google etc. but have a plan so that you will be prepared and everyone on the trip will get to do something they enjoy. We always enjoy an early morning trip to Cade's Cove to see the deer, turkey's, horses and if you are ever so lucky a bear here and there. It's great for the kids and adults alike. At the end of the loop there's a great dairy bar with snacks. I also suggest the Aquarium, no matter how many times you have been it's still exciting and holds the interest of all. The comedy barn is great family entertainment and you don't have to worry about the kids hearing something they shouldn't. Which is a plus this day and time. My family can't get enough of the Dixie Stampede. The summer and Christmas show are great. If your emotions are not stirred when you see it -- you have a problem. The food is great and the north and south competion makes it fun too. The Miracle Theater with all the live animals is out of this world. Even if you go with limited funds you can do several trips and get the most for you money with the dinner shows. Wonderworks is great for children but....if your children aren't the curious science minded it would be a waste of money. It is mainly interactive activities and may cause some to be bored. We love Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and can't get enough of it. The overall draw to the area is the kindness of the locals. We have always been treated with respect and treated like we belong there. Thank you Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, we love you no matter where we are site seeing or what we are doing while we are there.

Be sure to stop by Chic Fil A in front of Walmart in Sevierville on the way in to Pigeon Forge. The are giving out coupons worth $5.00 per adult for admission to the Miracle..It also has some more coupons for a couple of dollars off riding on a live camel. :)

My husband and I always rent a cabin for our trips and I have to say my best tip is this:
Come to relax, don't stress about times and what to. Just go with the flow. There is so much to see and do you can't do it one trip. And we always ask someone who serves us at a restaurant what they think is the best show, best thing to see or do and we do one of these each trip. We have see a couple of great shows off the reccomendation of a waiter or waitress. And plan a day of stress free shopping - just wander, eat, and shop.
We are coming for another trip this summer and we can't wait. This year we are dragging another couple with us who have never been out there so we are excited about that.

Growing up my family always went to the Smokies & now that I have a family, we find ourselves going alot. I have to agree on renting a cabin as opposed to a hotel. I don't know why, but they always seem cleaner! It is so quiet & peaceful, you don't have to worry about noisey neighbors. The price is actually better than getting a hotel once all is said and done. You have a full kitchen, so you just pick up some groceries and don't have to pay to eat out 3 meals a day! And if you have kids, make sure you get one with all the bells and whistles to keep them busy. There are some days that we don't even leave the cabin because the kids have to much fun with the hot tub, jacuzzi, pool table, air hockey, arcade game, and last time we even got one with an actual movie theater! Think about the money you save when you cut out just one day of all the expensive activities in town! I have to suggest Parkside Resort in Pigeon Forge. I have stayed in alot of cabins in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg & even a few in Sevierville & these are by far the best. It is new so all the resort amenities weren't finished when we were there, but they were in the process of installing the outdoor pool & miniature golf. I can't wait to go back! Check them out: http://www.prcabins.com
