What the Insider Says

The Miracle TheaterLet me begin by saying that I am a Christian and that my review is from that perspective. I’m always interested in new and engaging ways to share the Gospel with the world and so I was excited to see The Miracle Theater come to life in Pigeon Forge, TN. This town has historically had very few productions with Christian stories, so The Miracle was a breath of fresh air from the rest of the entertainment in town.

When you first pull in to the parking lot, you’ll notice Roman centurions on horseback, large camels available to ride, shephards tending to lambs, and other characters fully costumed to make this an incredibly unique experience. It’s so entertaining just to watch childrens’ eyes light up when they see these people. It really is an amazing experience that families won’t forget.

The theater is formerly the Louise Mandrell Theater and it has been completely renovated from the lobby all the way back to the back of the building where an “arena” has been built to walk the live animals that are used in the show.

The Miracle TheaterAs far as the show goes, I don’t want to give too much away, but it centers around the life of Christ and the Miracles He performed throughout His life. The Miracle is a two and a half hour production (which includes a 15 minute intermission) that covers Creation (Genesis) and jumps straight into the Birth of Christ and then weaves a completely engaging journey through the New Testament. The Miracle is a Broadway-style production with original songs & music (there are only a couple of songs you will recognize), an enormous cast, special effects (flying angels, smoke, fire, rain, and more!), live animals, and so much more. Much like The Passion of the Christ (the movie), The Miracle is a profitable production rather than a mission. It has the same bottom-line as any other theater or show in town, but it delivers a message that is so much more powerful and beneficial.

The Miracle TheaterOne of the things I noticed while watching The Miracle is that children and adults alike were asking questions to people around them as to what character was speaking, what was going on, and why things were happening the way they were. It became an opportunity to witness to numerous people and gave them many topics to discuss after they left the theater. There’s no doubt in my mind that at least one life is positively changed after each show. It truly is an amazing experience.

The biggest question that people have seems to be the price of admission. An adult ticket is $34.95, which leads many people accustomed to Pigeon Forge shows thinking that it includes dinner! The Miracle is honestly unlike any other production in town. It features so much more for your money and is on such a larger scale than arguably any other show in the area. Also, children under 12 are free! For a great idea on how to save money, read the tips below.

Insider Tips

  • Eat before you go! There are shows at 2pm and 8pm, which is just after lunch or after dinner. Alabama Grill is next door, so you can eat there and just walk straight over!
  • Sit as close to the center of the stage as possible. Also, sit at least 5 rows back…it’s easier to see everything going on than if you’re in the front row catching sweat off the performers!

  11. I took my Mother here on 5-10-08 in celebration of her birhtday, Mothers Day and 4 years of being cancer free, after being diagnoised with Stage 4 inoperable throat cancer. I had no idea what lied ahead. Not only did the Production Manager annuonce a special Birthday wish to her, but the actor that portrays Judas also stopped by and wished her one as well. I was truly touched by their kindness. Then the show began and I personally was in awe. This is definitialy a must see while traveling in the Smokey Mountains. I wish I could personally thank the actor that portrayed Judas for how he touched my mothers heart when he stopped by. This is a spectacular event and a must see!!!!!!!

  12. My brother-n-law took my sister to see “the miracle” last night for one of her Mother’s Day gifts, and they took me & my husband along & my great nephew Calob, who is 4 yrs old. It was truly AMAZING! I never did really care for musicals, but I am so glad that I went. It went way beyond my expectations. I love anything that portrays Christ’s life.ALL the actors were absolutely wonderful,so talented & you can tell that they put their whole heart into it.My 4 yr.old nephew loved it too,he asked questions thru the whole show.It was so heart felt. They truly did an amazing job.we have been telling everyone about it,and we plan to go again sometime. Then after the show is over, they will autograph your tickets if you’d like, plus we even saw a couple actors praying with someone & they even added some bible scriptures for us to read.I loved seeing that their passion for christ is more than just in the show, but really in their hearts. You must see this, and take family & friends with you.And if you think that the tickets are kind of high, trust me,it’s well worth it. LOVED IT!

  14. The Miracle is the most, inspiring way to celebrate the life of Christ. I have attended daily since the very first dress rehearsal three years ago. The GOD given talent of Miracle cast brings the Bible to life. I have never burned out seeing it again and again and again. I am uplifted with each and every preformance.

My husband and I both are already planning a return trip and to try to take some of our friends or a church group. I did not do a backstage tour, but I want to do that too. 17. It was a real letdown at intermission and at the conclusion to hear secular music about santa clause being played. This was very inapproipate and very distaseful.

  19. I absolutely loved this show! If it were the only thing i had done in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge it would have been worth the entire 4 hour trip. Not only was the show very acurate it held everyone’s attention in the entire theater. From the angels flying through the theater to the actor’s talented vocals it was an overall fabulous show. After the show I caught up with everyone from the show and took pictures with them, everyone was so very personable and nice especially the actor who portrayed Judas. I am so glad that my family and I went to this show, i suggest that if you are ever in Pigeon Forge go to this show!

  20. Wow! I was blessed to be able to see The Miracle last week – again. This is my third time, and I am greatly blessed all over again, just thinking about how well the cast and crew get THE MESSAGE across to the audience. I listen to the soundtrack almost every day & LOVE IT! Also bought Michael Jason Frost’s CD this time, and – Wow! -what a blessing!

You have been – and will remain – in my prayers. God bless you all as you do this great work for our precious Lord!

    In His love,
    Flo in Mobile, AL

  21. Simply AWESOME. A must see!!!
What else can I say? I saw this show a few weeks back with my 2 kids, my sister and both parents. It cost about $250 but it was money well spent. I dont regret it at all. I will make it a yearly habit to go to the Miracle theater. Next time, I hope to see the Joseph or Noah show.

  22. Simply awesome. The young man who sang “My Redeemer Lives” at the beginning of the play was wonderful. I can’t remember his name. Michael Frost maybe, but his vocal was truly a gift from God. My wife and I both got goose bumps the whole time he was singing. God bless this ministry and the cast who have worked so hard in portraying the life of Christ. Wonderful..Wonderful..

  23. Simply awesome and wonderful. The young man who sang,”My Redeemer Lives” was wonderful. My wife and I both had goose bumps the whole time he was singing. God Bless this ministry.

  24. I must first start out by saying that I am not a religious person at all. I was dragged to this show by family, but I am so glad I went. The songs are very catchy, the singing and acting are amazing, and it is so awesome to see people “flying” overhead. So, it doesn’t matter what your religion, or lack thereof, is because you will truly love this show.

  25. This website states that children under 12 get in free, with 1 child per 1 paying adult being the requirements. Miracle Theatre will not honor this even when you tell them it is on this website with a link to theirs. Because of false advertisement I decided to skip taking my family there and we opted for Memories Theatre & Dixie Stampede instead who do honor discounts & coupons.

  26. OMG……….I have been planning a return visit to the Miracle Theater in March, 2013 to see Joseph and I just read where the theater is closing in October, 2012…….I am shocked and so very upset that I will not be able to see the production. I was looking forward to your show once again as it has been an inspiration to my family. I wish you well in your new location wherever you go.

  27. Sue –
The Miracle Theater closed in October 2011. They have not announced if they will be taking the show elsewhere.

  28. I have see the Miracle alot. I go to Pigeon Forge every year and see the wonderful musical about the life of Jesus. It is a terrific show.
