Arrive 45 minutes before showtime to see the pre-show in the Carriage Room. There is a bluegrass band playing and they serve some fruity, non-alcoholic drinks and peanuts.
Sit upstairs – The doors that you eventually enter the theater through are upstairs!
The last song is “Rocky Top” so you can start making your way to the red curtain when they start playing it! But remember, you do have assigned seats, so you don’t have to rush!

The Inn at Christmas Place

Information on The Inn at Christmas Place Pigeon Forge, TN, which is one of the newest and nicest places to stay in Pigeon Forge and the Gatlinburg area! The Christmas Place Inn is located directly across from The Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge.

They call this place “The Inn” because “hotel” just doesn’t do it justice! This is probably one of the first “wow” moments you’ll have as you enter Pigeon Forge from the north end. It’s simply amazing. The Inn at Christmas Place has a European Alps style of architecture of a mountain-village. I’m not sure how that relates to Pigeon Forge, but it sure is cool! This place is so funky looking that people that live in Pigeon Forge want to stay here! Opening day is June 15, 2007 and if you plan on staying here this year, then I suggest calling and booking now. This will undoubtedly be the place to stay as it is close to many good restaurants, theaters, attractions, shopping, etc.

Ten Thousand Villages Coming to Pigeon Forge

Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade retailer, opens August 6 in Pigeon Forge.

According to knoxnews.com blog “The Bottom Line,” fair trade retailer Ten Thousand Villages is set to open a new location in Pigeon Forge in the coming weeks.

The Ten Thousand Villages store, to be located in Belz Outlets at 2654 Teaster Lane, will open officially on August 6.

The news comes just months after Knoxville’s Ten Thousand Villages store closed its doors on Market Square.

The store sells a variety of handmade jewelry, home decor, art and other items from artists based out of Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

“This is a great opportunity to expand the mission of Ten Thousand Villages,” Craig Schloneger, Ten Thousand Villages U.S. CEO, said in a release. “We look forward to working with Belz Outlets to spread the mission of fair trade throughout East Tennessee.”

Customers that stop in during the store’s grand opening celebration will receive a free handmade paper mini-journal while supplies last.

Everyone who joins the store’s mailing or email list will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card.

AdventureCon – Tennessee’s Largest Pop Culture Collectors Show

hyomesetup11 Quite simply, if you were in Pigeon Forge during the last week of May, you may have caught a glimpse of a Jedi, or maybe even a Ghostbuster, or any of a myriad of characters one might recognize from their childhood.

The thing is, these characters have a way of hanging onto to people well past their childhood, which is why events like AdventureCon are so popular today.

The 3-day event, which had previously been held in Knoxville, kicked off the summer season at the Grand Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge this past weekend and from the looks of the dealers and fans alike, the event was a rousing success.

Buoyed by an appearance from Billy Dee Williams – most well-known for his portrayal of Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, the event’s lines stretched throughout the convention center for a glimpse at stars like Williams; Jake Lloyd, who played a young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace; wrestlers Ted DiBiase, a.k.a. “The Million Dollar Man” and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, as well as model Angie Everhart.

Many of the stars like Lloyd and Williams even took part in question and answer sessions where fans got up close and personal with the actors and where musings from the Star Wars movie series were expounded upon at length and questions about their own lives were answered as well.

On the dealer end, it was a weekend of meeting new buyers and developing relationships that sometimes only take place in these types of settings.

For Brian Pritchard, who boasted a collection made up of toys ranging from He-Man action figures to Transformers, it’s become a life’s work.

“This is just stuff that I’ve accumulated over the years from estate sales, yard sales, coming across stuff on the internet – just a variety of places,” said Pritchard, whose company Galaxy of Junk (galaxyofjunk@yahoo.com) buys, sells and trades comics and toys.

Some of the more interesting toys seen throughout Pritchard’s display included a He-Man Castle Grayskull in it’s original packaged state, a complete Transformers Constructicons set and a William “Refrigerator” Perry G.I. Joe pose-able action figure.

Just around the corner from the Galaxy of Junk display, Talon Dunning was working on a new sketch.

Dunning was one of the many illustrators in attendance over the weekend at AdventureCon, his specialty was primarily roleplaying illustration.

“Mainly fantasy/super hero art, roleplaying art,” said Dunning, whose talents can be seen at www.talonart.com. “I’ve been doing it my whole life, that and graphic design, so it’s something I really enjoy… Right now, I’m just doing freelance work.”

Others, like local University of Tennessee graduate Shawn Harbin were on hand to answer questions about their work and sell a few comics as well. According to Harbin, The Dungeon Comic tells a story that contains elements of horror, mystery, sci-fi, suspense, fantasy, and camp. Harbin’s work can be seen at www.bsx22studios.com.

Aside form those mentioned, booths featuring games like the popular Dungeons & Dragons series, knives & swords, Anime toys and books, tattoos, and signed movie posters were prevalent throughout the event – one that looks to become a spring staple in Pigeon Forge after a successful first go round at the Grand Resort Hotel and Convention Center.

Titanic Museum to Open in Pigeon Forge on April 8

Half-scale museum will house 400 valuable artifacts and personal items found on the ship.

The world’s largest permanent Titanic museum is set to officially open its doors in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on Thursday, April 8.

According to the museum’s official website, www.titanicpigeonforge.com, guests will get to play a part in one of the greatest human dramas of all time as they navigate through 20 rooms holding over 400 valuable artifacts and personal items, an exclusive photo collection and hands-on-activities.

Some of the activities include:

Walking an actual size replica of the Grand Staircase
Touching the frozen surface of an “iceberg”
Sending an SOS signal from the ship’s wireless communications room and receive communication from the coast guard
Listening to survivors’ stories as they sit in actual lifeboats
Feeling the chill of that fateful “Starry Night”
Standing on the mighty ship’s bridge and hear the Captain’s commands
Viewing life aboard the ship – see a First Class Stateroom and a Third Class cabin
Exploring world-class gallery rooms with rare historical artifacts
Controlling a simulated underwater Titanic exploration of your own

Guests will be given a passenger boarding ticket upon entry. These tickets tell the story of an actual Titanic passenger and allow you to follow their story throughout the exhibit. Each artifact has a unique story that relates directly to a crew member or passenger. At the end of your two-hour self-guided tour, you will discover the fate of your ticketed passenger in the memorial room.

Titanic in the Smokies is a permanent three-story, $25 million museum attraction shaped like the Titanic herself. Built half-scale to the original Titanic, the museum towers 100 feet above the parkway and is anchored in water to create the illusion of the Titanic at sea.

A free Titanic Museum preview center is currently open daily at 2134 Parkway in Pigeon Forge.

Parker’s Greatest Knife Show

This show has kept its popularity due to the work of the late Jim Parker, part of the original Parker Knife family.

Parker’s Greatest Knife Show is the greatest antique pocket knife show in the country. On June 11th through 13th the knife show will be at The Sevierville Events Center at Bridgemont. This is the brand-new, state-of-the-art events center located right off Highway 66 in Sevierville TN. You can see it from the road, look for the Music Outlet and then pull across the bridge to the events center. This astounding facility only makes the knife show that much better.
