If you like southern-fried foods, sweet tea, and southern hospitality then look no further. Huck Finn’s in Pigeon Forge is known for an amazing “all u can eat” meal that includes “vittles” which is:

  • Bottomless Bowl of Baked White Beans & Ham
  • Fresh Ground coleslaw with our secret dressing
  • Huck’s famous hush puppies
  • Dill Pickles & Sweet Onion Slices

Now if you’re sitting there thinking, “Well DANG! That’s a meal in itself!”…you’re right! You can order just the vittles as an entire meal and you’ll leave waddling out. Just make sure you park at the lower end of the parking lot to make it easier to get to your car! If, on the other hand, you’d like to add some meat to your meal, then go for the “all u can eat” which includes your choice of southern fried chicken, fried catfish, or you can get a little of both with some fried chicken and fried catfish fillets! To wash all of this down they will bring you a big ole’ mason jar (if you don’t know what a mason jar is… well… come and relax in the south for a bit) full of tea, lemonade, or Pepsi products. I highly suggest the sweet tea!

Huck Finn’s is owned by one of the nicest businessmen in Pigeon Forge and he has a great staff that will keep your plates full, your glasses filled to the rim, and your bellies stuffed! This is definitely the one place for southern-fried food in Pigeon Forge.

Calhoun’s

When you work in and around Pigeon Forge, you develop those places that you go to over and over, those ‘go to’ restaurants that you can always say:  “Hey, let’s go there!’ and everybody agrees.  Calhoun’s in Pigeon Forge is one suck place.

Calhoun’s is an East Tennessee tradition.  With locations all over Knoxville, one in Gatlinburg and one in Pigeon Forge, there is almost always a Calhoun’s nearby to make sure you have a full and satisfying meal.  In Pigeon Forge, Calhoun’s is locate din the Walden’s Landing shopping complex.  If you are driving through town, headed toward Gatlinburg, you will see Walden’s Landing on the right hand side of the road between traffic lights 2 and 3, but much closer to 3.  As you are facing Walden’s Landing, you will see Calhoun’s on the left hand side.  Park the car and head inside.  This is a large restaurant, so depending on when you go will determine whether you will have a long wait, but I would bet, that at night you will have a little bit of a wait.

Calhoun’s is one of those restaurants where the starter and the dessert are almost always a must.  One of my favorite appetizers is their Fresh Baked Soft pretzels and Beer Cheese.  The pretzels come out piping hot, soft and tender with salt baked right on.  They are served with a side of beer cheese.  This is almost like a fondue cheese and has just the right amount of bite, that a good cheese sauce should have.  And for dessert, you will want to save room for their Banana Pudding.  Just like mom used to make, this banana pudding is old school.  Rich, creamy, full of flavor and fresh bananas, nothing in this banana pudding comes from a box.  It is cooked to perfection.

And, if you are looking for an entree, check out their salads.  These are a little less caloric then some of the other dishes on the menu but no less tasty.  Their Southern Salad is a chef salad with strips of fried chicken across the top and their Smokehouse Salad is to die for.  The Smokehouse is covered with chicken, ham and bacon making this a meat-lovers dream.  Imagine a salad with all of the best meats you plan to find at a restaurant right on top of the salad itself.

But, if you are looking for one of the best steaks in town: the “Ale” Steak is out of this world.  Marinated in Cherokee Red Ale from the Smoky Mountain Brewery, this is one of the most tender steaks you will ever encounter.  When paired with the perfect sides, Spinach Maria and Tennessee Corn Pudding, you have a meal that you will remember each and every time you come back to the Smokies.

Add Calhoun’s to your itinerary  the next time you are in Pigeon Forge.  Stop by and try one of their wonderful salads or a great steak but be sure you start with the soft pretzels and beer cheese and end up with a bowl of banana pudding, I promise you will not be disappointed.

If you love Japanese food, then you are in for a treat in Pigeon Forge, TN. Kinkaku Japanese Steakhouse opened up this spring in 2006 as the only Japanese Restaurant in Pigeon Forge. I have to admit that I love Japanese food and have been to quite a few. My immediate reaction was to how clean the restaurant is. It is very open and easy to see all of the teppanyaki chefs making meals at all of the tables. We had a very entertaining chef whose cooking was just as great as his personality. An entree comes with salad with ginger or ranch dressing, soup, fried rice, and vegetables. I chose chicken and shrimp for my meats (you can also just get a vegetarian plate, but that’s not as fun!) and they were absolutely delicious. They were full of flavor and so juicy and tender. Kinkaku Japanese Steak House ranks at the top of my list of favorite Japanese restaurants. To be located within walking distance of my house could be trouble for me! If you’re in Pigeon Forge, TN and love an entertaining and delicious meal then head to Kinkaku! They are open 7 days a week for lunch as well as dinner.

If you want the best breakfast in Pigeon Forge, then head to the Log Cabin Pancake House at the end of town. If you’re heading toward Gatlinburg, it’s at the very end of the strip on the left. They are open from 7am to 3pm every single day and they serve breakfast the entire time as well as a lunch buffet that is also delicious.

The Log Cabin Pancake House has been a local favorite since it opened in 1973. All of their pancakes are made from scratch with some recipes that you probably won’t find anywhere else. They do not use packaged foods, so everything is fresh with that southern, homemade flavor. The pancakes and breakfast are the heart of the Log Cabin Pancake House that keep people coming back, but the lunch buffet is incredibly good too. They also have homemade dessert (banana pudding, cobbler, etc) that is made fresh every day that is absolutely tasty.

Saturdays and Sundays are obviously the busiest days to come, but you can still get a table. They do their seating the old fashioned way….you form a line. You don’t put your name in if you have to wait on a table. You simply stand in line and they take you in when a table opens up. The wait is never too long, and the food is definitely worth waiting for!

Next time you’re in Pigeon Forge, or passing through, stop by and try Little Tokyo Hibachi Grill and Sushi Bar, you won’t regret it. Their hibachi grill is one of the best pieces of culinary entertainment in the Smoky Mountains and their sushi rivals that of some of the country’s most artistic chefs. But it’s not just their exceptional food; whether you’re looking for a festive atmosphere suitable for the whole family or a more romantic dinner for two, Little Tokyo answers the call every time. If you’re looking for something completely different from your normal East Tennessee fare, Little Tokyo is that eclectic spot that will become a destination for you.

Hibachi is a very popular dining option in most U.S. cities nowadays. Just take a seat around one of the grills at Little Tokyo and watch the food come alive. Come in with a large group and you will likely have one of the grills all to yourselves, which makes it even better. Each meal begins with miso soup and a salad. Little Tokyo’s chefs are skilled in the delicate art of sushi creation. There isn’t a bad piece of sushi to be found on their menu. Here’s one recommendation – the Kiwi Roll. This sushi roll has lobster meat inside with kiwi sliced thinly over the top and drizzled with coconut sauce. For you sushi connoisseurs, sit at the sushi bar next time and watch the sushi chef work.

With the University of Tennessee being in such close proximity to the Smokies, you’d imagine that Pigeon Forge would have its share of Vol fans. And you’d be right. Blue Moose specializes in burgers and wings, and they’re mighty good. Their Angus beef burgers, award winning jumbo chicken wings – which you can get in 16 different flavors, and beer on tap make it the ideal place to catch a game, or just bring the family in for a great meal.You’ll have to come back at least a few times just to make sure you’ve tried each wing flavor, just to find the one you like the most.

Think you’ll have a problem catching the game you want to watch? Blue Moose has you covered. Their 20 flat screen televisions mounted around their restaurant make it hard for you to miss any of the action. Plus, they offer the NFL Sunday Ticket which means every Sunday they have every game playing and can switch between televisions to better accommodate you. That’s some great service if you ask us, but we haven’t even touched on their specials yet. Wednesdays you can get a 12-piece order of wings for the price of 8.

I’ve honestly never seen someone order something that didn’t make them point out how great it tasted!

Looking for something a little different than the usual fare that you find along the Parkway in Pigeon Forge? If your tongue happens to prefer being stimulated by a variety of tastes, let us suggest that you try a dish at the Smokies Cuban Cafe sooner rather than later.

Located at 3526 Parkway between light Nos. 7 and 8 in Pigeon Forge, Smokies Cuban Cafe is THE place in the Smoky Mountains to find authentic homemade Cuban dishes, pastries and turnovers. Actual Cuban visitors have given the restaurant high marks for its Cuban offerings.

It’s not just lunch and dinner that’s being served at Smokies Cuban Cafe, their breakfast menu is very unique. From toasted Cuban bread and butter to a hearty breakfast featuring a tomato sandwich with salt, garlic and olive oil on Cuban bread. If it’s something more locally-based that you prefer, eggs and ham, or an omelet can be found on the menu as well.

No Way Jose’s

There are very few people that will turn up their nose at a great Mexican restaurant.  If your family is in the mood for great Mexican food in a relaxed atmosphere, then look no further then No Way Jose’s Mexican Cantina.

No Way Jose’s has locations in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.  In Pigeon Forge, they are located behind Calhoun’s, behind the Walden’s Landing shopping area.  When you are on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, find traffic light #3, look for the Walden’s Landing Shopping complex and pull in.  Head toward Calhoun’s and then pull toward the back of the shopping mall from Calhoun’s and you will see No Way Jose’s.  It sits back behind the main part of Walden’s Landing looking like an unassuming Mexican restaurant.  What it actually is, is some of the best Mexican food that you can find in the Smoky Mountains.  And it is their food, the presentation, the ingredients and the quality of the food that makes it a wonderful place to eat.

Let’s look at their appetizers first.  In particular let us look at their Mucho! Mucho! Nachos.  This is a big plate of nachos, with all the fixings.  If you are looking for comfort food for one or a great way to start your meal at No Way Jose’s, you cannot go wrong with their nachos.  Piled high with all the fixin’s and completely customizable have them v=create the best plate of nachos you have ever had.  Or maybe you are thinking pizza works as an appetizer.  If so, Papa’s Mexican Pizza brings all of the best ingredients into one place, on top of a tortilla, ready to be divided up and shared.

And then for entrees you have a ll of the traditional items that you will find at any Mexican restaurant plus some items that you will not see anywhere else.  One of my personal favorite items on the menu is a burrito called the Taco Burrito.  This burrito has all of the stuffings of a great taco, inside a burrito.  When you cut into it, the taste is like a taco with all of the bake din goodness of a burrito.  Or maybe, just maybe you were thinking about dinner and a movie while you were in the Pigeon Forge area.  Right now, they are running a special called Mexican and a Movie for Two!  This comes with Chile Con Queso, Flaming Sizzling Fajitas for two and Homemade Flan for dessert, along with two movie tickets.  And, with the movie theater being located in Walden’s Landing, this is a great deal.
